Enter your solution to each one as unscrambled - there's no need to wait until you've got them all.
OK - I've made it too difficult so here's a clue to number 2: It's not unusual to now see him on The Voice.
tinakittyjay Seeing as you asked so nicely - here's your clue: No 4 sang a song that had the Christian name of the first female UK prime minister and the surname of the second. (You may use the clues I've given to others too)
Well done - it was Tom Jones - here's another clue: Tom Jones mentioned on more than one occasion that he was a friend of number one.
davidstockport Yay. Unless any of the other ones are more recent singers I'm not gonna get them.
It is indeed ELVIS PRESLEY and your name goes on honours board at the top - Furthermore you get a clue to number 5 which is: He was blind so fortunately never got to see his phone bill.
davidstockport If you would've left it another 5 minutes without clues I'd have got them all.
Yes it was Solomon King - I'm really glad you remembered him (without any clues) he was an old friend.
davidstockport He was an old friend of Elvis Pressley as he worked along side the Jordanaires
Philkinellman Incorrect... the press got that wrong in his obituary - the reason for that "fake news" (which has been repeated) was that the Jordanaires were his backing singers on his first Nashville recording of "She Wears My Ring" - I have personally checked it out and he was never a member, he also never mentioned being a friend of Elvis. (I had another friend who was though)
The Jordanaires were available as session singers to anyone, they were not exclusive to Elvis.
davidstockport I didn't actually mean he was a member, but thanks for the insight, as the old saying goes, you learn something new every day.
Philkinellman The press did incorrectly report he was a member of Elvis's backing group "The Jordanaires" once things like that are said every other reporter jumps on the bandwagon* (it makes good headlines). Sol sang duets with me and I backed him with guitar on numerous occasions, I'd love to have been able to say I was backed by (and backed) someone who backed Elvis.
*The press never let the truth get in the way of a good story
Thanks to everyone who joined in - I have started a similar one for Film Stars (I'm making anagrams). Hope if you enjoyed you'll join when it's ready.
Good fun. These singers are all golden oldies so I would have never thought of them. If you're doing film stars I might have more luck but again I'm not old enough to know those golden oldies.
The next one will probably be English cities - if I do film stars I'll choose them from a random list (I don't know many either). I've also thought that to make it fair for everyone the game shall start at a specific time,
I can explain the way the game will be played earlier but not reveal the anagrams to be solved (in the first comment) until the agreed start time. It will in many ways be a race to see who can get an answer before someone else. In other words organised chaos!
Anyone new can see how it went on the "Famous singers" and hopefully more will join in.
Cool. These games really spice up the chat. I like it. Did you see the catchphrases game as well? Can't remember his user name but I'll find the link later
I did see it - I was out most of yesterday afternoon so unfortunately wasn't able to take part. I agree any form of game can spice things up. I and many others got tired of the "Butter vs Putty" type topics, especially one of my friends whose windows fell out.
Thanks for that it saved me a job - You might notice I've posted the preamble to tonights game.
GlitchHunter davidstockport this was a brilliant idea - very original. I sure will be joining in tonight. Got a chat post idea for us later too
We missed you last night - you might notice I've overcome the inability to edit your topic more than once - I hope that helps you. Should mention for anyone else who sees this that there will be ten anagrams - so expect organised chaos.
If you are planning on using first TOP comment for actual questions etc - make sure you reserve it seconds after you post the topic - before someone has the chance to use it.
Just a suggestion - but why not do a few at the same time. Perhaps list them A B C etc. Single ones are over inside seconds. (could do them FILM - ACTOR - SONG etc) I don't know how long mine will last tonight - last night I waited over an hour for the first response but tonight I'm hoping that those who joined in are ready for it - and more might join in.
I'm guessing some might have thought they had to wait until all were solved (I didn't make that too clear at first). Tonight it's a race I hope I've made that clear.
