I would do a search for the best budget mobile phone of 2020 and do a shortlist of 5 or so and then search for the best price.

I bought my stupid sounding Ding Ding X9 for £40 from amazon warehouse when they had a 20% off code. It's been a brilliant phone and has all the features I need. It can be a little slow but I have a 256GB micro sd card in it that I bought for £20 from mymemory and my phone is jampacked with apps, games, videos, mp3s etc filling up most of the 272GB of storage.

It's better to have a shortlist of suitable phones in my opinion as it gives you more flexibility on price. I.e. you may find an amazing deal for one of your shortlist phones where as if you go for the top choice it maybe so popular everyone is charging full price.

There's a few phones listed on our smartphone deals page for less than £100:

Avoid any phones with Mediatek processors, avoid going to big brands like Samsung and Huawei if buying new.

Xiaomis and the like are your money's worth.

Buying used is also an option.

Mediatek do a wide range of SOC's for mobile phones, admittedly a huge range of budget chipsets but also some fairly powerful chipsets too for mid-price handsets. Some best buy phones have had mediatek chipsets. I totally accept though that if you aren't sure how to understand the difference between chipsets its not bad advice to avoid Mediatek as a simple rule.

I fully agree with your assessment. The Snapdragon's 660 and the likes would be a minimum tier I would go to because the apps nowadays can be demanding.

That person is obviously nothing more than a troll. Just ignore it and it will eventually go away.

And funny how those who try to start internet fights with others have never actually contributed anything to the site. It's always the same.
