How Much Money Do You Think is Acceptable to Spend on Teenagers for Christmas

I simple tell mine this is the budget each if wont new phone in with that they are to sell old one and had what cash they have time are hard to get yourself into debt to keep up with the Jones please don't fall into the trap of buying them latest gadgets because they expect bigger next year

I am a believer that no matter what their age, you spend what you can afford.

There will always be some parents that can afford costly presents without hurting their pockets but I think it's important to only spend what you can afford and definitely work out a budget. In most cases it's the parent that beats themselves up worrying 'is it enough?'.

My son is 13 and likes the top brands. I have spent quite a lot i wont lie but i have paid nowhere near the rrp with all the deals and discount codes i have found. I also started shopping months ago so i havent had to pay it all out at once. Ive got a whatsapp group going with his rugby teams mums finding them deals and discounts aswell. Ive saved a lot of people money this christmas

Spend what you can afford to and explain to them if it's not as much as they might expect.

I always have an expensive December my daughters birthday is 5 days before Christmas. This year we have spent more than normal because she's 18, but normally we don't overspend and she doesn't expect it. I think there is a lot of expectation is on the parents, because you know your child will be made the butt of all jokes if they don't have the biggest and best.

My daughter wants to have a library (thanks Belle) and always asks for books, so that's easy enough, but we now need an extension

The better teenagers behave the more they should get within reason.

There’s no fixed amount. Basically you treat your children to something they like and not a gift to impress others. Not all children expect expensive things. When my daughter was in her teens all she requested was some Oxfam vouchers supporting something. She’s no saint.

I am quite lucky my teen doesnt ask me for anything expensive and he collects old things from war. But I believe that you spend what you can afford. Christmas has been lost to who can spend more on their children these days and many forget about the spending time together. they will never remember what you bought them when they get older but they will remember the things you did together

Everyone's budget will be different, ours has ebbed & flowed each year depending how we are doing, No point getting into debt for 'stuff' tho. ( been there) It's the feeling & atmosphere of Christmas, the being together that people remember mostly I think.

Whatever you can afford is acceptable. It's not worth getting into debt over and they need to learn money doesn't grow on trees

Yeah,when you get older,its the memories of 'doing things' together,so we always go to cinema for our christmas outing,and try do something special during the holiday,like a meal out,or get together with family who we wont see christmas day,and i always like to do something with my grandkids too,go to school play or trip on santa train etc.
