Morrisons to Ban Shoppers without Masks

Same at Asda near me. During the week Tesco do have someone monitoring the door but they don’t give out masks the same way.

I am lucky when I have been out I have not seen anyone in the supermarkets.

but our local store is a different story he is to afraid if he says something the shoppers won’t come back and is always the teenagers / under 30s.

he does not even have a sign up about wearing mask which makes me made.

its a small shop which makes it worse.

I actually think those who can't wear a mask should be banned from stores too, they should be given help in getting supplies without entering stores without face covering though. It seems absurd to me that those with breathing difficulties etc. who are probably the most susceptible to SEVERE consequences from infection are allowed to mix with others who are also susceptible.

Furthermore those who could but won't wear face covering in stores might come to their senses. One of the Covidiots in our midst who recently said wearing masks was "censorship" might change his mind, (or dictionary )

davidstockport oh bore off, I live alone in a city I dont know with no help and am exempt, do I have covid NO am I a carrier NO so whats it matter if I go shopping or not. Your mask supposedly works doesnt it then stop being a wet wipe over it.

I'm sick and tired of these discussions, masks don't work a layer I can smell a fart through doesnt protect from zilch.

I know family who never go out, never have visitors, follow all these contradicting guidelines and yet one of the family of 4 got covid, did the other 3 get it NO

ChelseaDoyles I sometimes am amazed at how uninformed some people are, the masks aren't intended to protect the wearer but those they come closish to, I am also exempt from wearing a mask (but do when required) and also live alone and would welcome my suggestion being taken up that those who are exempt could have their shopping done for them without them entering the store. I get tired of the covidiots who think they know better than doctors and scientists, who've spent many years studying, who advocate the use of face coverings to protect others - who in turn should protect them. As I write I am listening on radio as to how shops are recognised as one of the places many many people pick up the virus due to those who don't give a damn about other's safety,

Incidentally how do you know you don't have the virus - have you had a test since you last went in a shop without a mask? If you have been near a test centre you've probably come close enough to many people who do have it.

Also if you're sick and tired of these discussions why do you join in?

ChelseaDoyles The worst kind of Covidiot (the ignorant kind) . You don't know you haven't got Covid until its too late (probably after infecting dozens of others ) . Please educate yourself ! Wear a mask it may not protect you (that's not what they are for !) but it will protect others from you .

I wear a mask to protect others , now if everyone did the same ? Think about it !

PinkElephant26 There's might be a problem with non-suffering people using the anxiety/depression excuse to get a lanyard which is also a run of the mill excuse if you've been found guilty of anything in court

Hopefully they will have to prove it with a letter/email from their GP, but I'm sure that this won't be the case.

TheChimp When wearing a mask first became compulsory, most GPs said they wouldn't be giving out letters, because cards, badges and other things saying you're exempt are available from many charities and other organizations. I think people who are exempt should carry something to say that, even though they don't have to, but I agree I don't think the GPs are going to start issuing letters.

PinkElephant26 I agree. At the moment, people who are exempt don't have to carry anything that says they're exempt- but why wouldn't you? You can get cards, lanyards, badges, etc and it just makes sense to have one of them on you.

PinkElephant26 Im exempt. I have a badge. I do carry a mask as some days. I can manage a mask if it's a quick in and out, but if I'm with my kids or doing a bigger shop. I struggle ( I try not take kids). But my partner works so don't always have a choice. I'm also carer for my mum. So have to do her shopping etc. Two three times a week. I always clean hands trolley ( I used to do this anyway, part of my anxiety OCD) social distance. I also try to avoid busy shops as can't deal with crowds social situations very well.

angelik not everyone who has the issues have been formally diagnosed.

blacklabrador Needs to be stopped and the staff sacked if they haven't got good reason.

TheChimp Indeed, not even sure they could use the health exception card as they were both lugging around fruit and veg cases while joking around.

Let's hope the compulsory face masks rule is applicable to all, not just customers.

I have said very similar above, regarding the mask exempt people not being allowed in stores, it has come in for heavy criticism from the newest Covidiot to join our midst. The words Nazi Britain were mentioned. (presumably just to show their mentality)

davidstockport I really find it hard to believe that those not wearing face masks feel comfortable shopping in stores. After all they need to protect themselves.

Pjran Face covering (unless specialised) only gives minimal protection to the wearer, the main purpose of it is to protect others from them. Unfortunately there are too many totally SELFISH people willing to accept the protection given them by others, but not willing to return the favour.

They're probably the same people who'll refuse the vaccine when it's offered, or if they come to their senses first - try to jump the queue.

TheChimp Asda and Tesco have said the same now, still a few more to go but I imagine they'll all be making similar statements.

Lynibis I am quite an assertive person, however I felt if I challenged him it would of no doubt ended in conflict as you could see he was after a reaction.

At end of the day no one has the right to know why we are exempt, its called Dr patient confidentiality for a reason and people like you demanding to know why we are exempt just brings up the trauma of the past so pipe down with you propaganda political BS

I have asthma and COPD, but I still wear a mask if I go out because I have RESPECT for other people and wouldn't want to pass Covid-19 on if I had it.

ChelseaDoyles well said! Its nobody's buisness, it might be very personal, people can't just expect you to say why you are exempt

I think the large supermarkets can take care of themselves , there are a lot of temporarily unemployed licensed security staff (Bouncers ) available due to the dearth of Pubs, nightclubs etc .

Its the small shopkeepers I have sympathy with .
