Mother's Day - What Are Your Plans?
Other
What is everybody up to this Mother's Day with their mums? Has anyone booked anywhere fancy, chilling out? I'm going out for a meal with my mum and treating her to that.
I haven't even thought about mothers day yet and now i'm panicking about what to get my mom!!! My son swims and i will be at a competition that day so don't have the chance to take her for a meal.......eek!!!!
Maybe send some flowers or visit her with your son after his swimming, I am sure that would please her just as much as a meal out. If he wins he can show off his award.
You could always make something in advance like a lasagne and freeze until the day and take it with you. Bag of salad and some garlic bread and Bob's your uncle.
Lynibis i always buy her lillies as they are her favourite, i just worry i buy the same thing. but you have a point in your post below she would probably just be happy to see me and the kids. think i might take her for lunch one day after the event and just have some mom and daughter time
I won't see my mother on mothers day unless she comes to visit me! We live 4 hours apart and due to current circumstances I can't go to see her. I will buy her a present as usual and a card and take her out next time I'm able to
Mother’s Day is the great day to thank our moms and give the lovely gifts My mom is staying away from me very long distance but i always loving her more than anything in the world I love my mom I would like to say thank you for this mother’s day chat
I speak from the opposite side as I don't have a mum as I am getting on a bit myself lol! But personally i have never felt comfortable with my sons and grandchildren spending money on me. However I try not to make this too obvious because I know my sons derive great pleasure from treating me. They are by no stretch wealthy but neither are they hard up but I would be very happy for them all to just visit with a bunch of flowers for Sunday tea. Spending time with loved ones is the greatest gift of all.

This year will be a sad one for me - I lost my Mum a year ago. I really don't want it to be celebrated this year but being a Mum, myself, I understand and accept that I will get through the day with a smile. I have had some lovely presents over the years but when the flowers have drooped, the perfume has been used and the workouts more necessary it will be the simpler things that will linger in my memory. The hand made gifts from small hands, the picnic that was shared in the country with persistent bees and foraging wildlife, the day I fell in the river helping a lady older than me and the amount of time and laughter shared on those days. Time is very precious even if a get together isn't possible - there's always skype.
Mothers day for me is not until May as that's when French mothers day is. I never spend it with her unfortunately but send a card, flowers and have a nice chat on the phone.
chelseaturpin I've seen what you've done - you have been a very busy little bee. x
My mums coming round then going into isolation as over 70 its very upsetting but know got be done she only lives five mins from me so plenty video calls x.
