I feel like every year its the same bits of sale that most mothers don't really need or want (bar me, I absolutely love a pamper set!).
What gift ideas so people have for this year?
I was thinking of making a hamper up of all the things my mum likes. Her favourite chocolates, face masks, book, wax melts etc
Have you looked at Boots some great deals on No7 & if you have a Boots card lots of advantage points up for Grabs
I always get my mum craft tools or supplies as she’d enjoy that more than she would just about anything else, and they last longer but don’t sit around not being used like other things tend to with her.
I’m hoping to get my mum an afternoon tea. Loads of places doing them around here and look lovely

Whatever happened to a bunch of flowers for mum? Why do we all keep buying expensive gifts on all these 'special' days?
As an older mum I feel extremely guilty that my kids AND grandkids spend so much on me because retail companies guilt them into doing so.
I would much sooner have a family day together where they can cook for me or, if that is not possible, a bunch of not too expensive flowers. Luckily none of my family are poor but I still feel bad at this continual ritual of gift giving throughout the year where a modest gift never seems good enough. I assure you, mums will be pleased with your company or being taken out or cooked for!
Lynibis unfortunately I live in Manchester and my mum in London so I can't see my mum on mother's day. I haven't seen her for a long time now. She was in hospital at Christmas with covid and almost lost her life, which meant she also got no Christmas this year so I wanted to put together a basket with all her favourite things to cheer her up.
I completely get what you are saying and I only ever spend what I'm able to as my mum wouldn't be wanting expensive gifts. Hopefully next year (or later this) we'll have the gift of company again
I think that's a really thoughtful of you, I think the last year has made us realise how much out loved ones mean to us. Hopefully you get to see her soon. How about a photo book of happier times 
Unfortunately I lost my Mum last year after a long illness, so it's a case of my sister's putting flowers on her grave and sending me a photo

Nichola1991 how about suggesting you visit after lockdown and cook a Christmas lunch. I’m sure she’ll love that. Don’t forget the crackers.
beccatavender oh I'm really sorry to hear that. I lost my dad a few years ago so know how these special days can be awful without them, maybe you could send her a mothers day wish on a lantern. Thank you for the photo book idea that's lovely

Have a look on Etsy, they have some great gifts on there, a lot of handmade and unique gifts, I bought a few things off there for Christmas shopping
I think baked gifts are always nice and you know they won’t go to waste/be unwanted, you could get a set of cupcakes, a brownie tray with different flavours, some fudge or a giant cookie (I recommend andyandsarashs.co.uk)
My mum is allergic to just about everything which always limits what I can get her. As I need to post it too as she’s too far away this year I’m going to do something like a bloompost flower gift

Nichola1991 I do think the hamper idea is a really nice as you can completely customise it to the individual interest.

I’m liking the idea of an afternoon tea. I usually take my mum out for lunch and get her some flowers so a sort of ‘lunch’ dropped off to her would be lovely
That's a lovely idea, doing the same for my dad's birthday big birthday thats coming up as unfortunately restrictions won't be lifted by then, thought it was important to try and make the day a bit different for him we can do a proper family celebration afterwards at a later date.

Due to lockdown I have recently started doing some painting by numbers. I've been surprised how well they have turned out and have framed a couple! My mum is really hard to buy for she has really sensitive skin so no smellies, she doesn't eat chocolate and doesn't drink! I've decided this year I'm going to do her a paint by numbers painting and frame it, keeps me busy and I think she will love it!
Big fan here of the paint by numbers, they do look really good when finished. I did a canvas at the beginning of the first lockdown and it came out great it's hung in my kids room they are really happy with it. Got bought another for Christmas but haven't started it yet

I think that making up your own pack ..... in a gift bag or even a re-purposed Amazon box (!!!!!) shows thought and effort ....and also obviously can be far more suited to the recipient! Also ...it's not the cost but the thought/consideration put into any gift.
