alexzlodh Put the fan on or open window when using shower/bath and let the bathroom air after use. Clean the mould with a 'mould and mildew' spray.
We haven't got a window, we have at an and leave the fan on for ages but still get mould on our ceiling we use Cillit Bang Power Cleaner Black Mould Remover Spray which I would recommend it, although it does come back within a few months
definitely what lilyflower says .... also white vinegar is a good mould treatment deterrent for in between the sprays ... we used Dettol brand I think it was but there are others.
beccatavender I'm the same with you its a joke my landlord won't put a fan in that cillit bang is very good for it but like you said it still comes back
The most common causes of bathroom mould are lingering moisture caused by lack of ventilation
- Leave windows open frequently after showers or baths
- Keep humidity low by using air conditioning or dehumidifiers, they are best kept below 50%
- Use a mildew resistant shower curtain or install a shower screen or enclosure. Clean frequently
- Wash your bathroom rugs frequently. Hang up damp towels and bathroom rugs in dry ventilated areas
- Clean and dry your bathroom more often, don’t skimp on the places you can’t see
- After your shower or bath, wipe off excess water with an old towel or a squeegee so it doesn't get to sink in
- Stretch out the shower curtain to its full length and allow it to dry thoroughly
- Clean curtains and rugs with sanitising products instead of perfumed
- Use gloss paint where possible as this creates a harder surface and mitigates the growth of mould
As others have said plenty of ventilation is the key. I tried a few mould sprays before I found one that really worked and I'd recommend it.

We often have problems in bathroom the last person from council who came out said keep heating on constantly at 18*c although previously told keep windows open all time even when in bath/shower and in winter take from that what you will
I honestly recommend this astonish one sprayed on and in a matter of minutes the mould dissaperared.
I bought an expensive one from B and Q and honestly it was a waste of money compared to this £1 one from homebargains.
These are all great comments the only thing I'd add is, if you can afford to get wet walls or PVC cladding, that'll save you grief in the long run.
Agree. Astonish mould and mildew is so so amazing. Even if you just google it and go on images you can see some of the before and after pictures people have posted. It’s so amazing and price is so cheap too
