Mozzarella out of Date

Ask a Question

I bought a mozzarella in the supermarket and expired the 11th of September. What are you thoughts about eating it tomorrow? I don't think it should be a problem as it is only a few dates passed the due date but I want reassurance.

When mozzarella goes off it puffs up. So in my opinion if the bag is soft go for it if not I wouldn't mozzarella doesn't last as well as hard cheese

I'm dead wary on dairy after being really ill on Cottage cheese but I'd have thought it'd be ok too as long as stored well all the time?

I find that your senses are far more reliable than the expiry dates.

If it smells OK and looks OK then try a little bit. And if it tastes OK then go for it.

With hard cheese you will notice mould on it, but mozzarella I haven't seen that before so just smell it. To be honest for 50p or whatever it is I prefer not to play with my health.

I’d have no problems eating it, but obviously that depends on the state of it. If it looks or smells funky, then don’t chance it
