MPs in 'Fraudsters' Row with HMRC

In the News

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is engaged in a bitter war of words with MPs over the so-called "loan charge".

The charge - brought in last year to close a tax loophole - has landed thousands of freelancers with large, unexpected bills dating back 20 years.

The all-party loan charge group has accused HMRC of suggesting those who have to pay the charge are fraudsters.

HMRC's chief executive Jim Harra insists a press release did not say that and is demanding a retraction.

But the all-party group says it "stands by" its criticism.

I think if you are going to cut and paste a story from the internet it would be nice to hear your ideas and opinions about the article you have chosen to share. It is not really chat if we are replying to an article written by someone else.

Totally agree, there seems to be a lot of these types of posts around. Not helpful for anyone.

ClaireF1978 @lynibos I already have muted you two. I have no idea what else to do to get rid of your nonsense.

You are not my online nannies so please leave me alone.

Lynibis if you haven't noticed there is a section called "in the news" if you don't like a topic you can go pass it.

Yes but not until you have read it and then discover it is not a topic from the poster WindowShopper. And as I said surely the poster has a viewpoint and is asking if we agree or disagree. We could all cut and paste two items daily for our points, even non topical ones, but it isn't really playing the game is it?

AmazingPerson Although you will not see this I must, in my defence, clarify. Firstly, I am not sure why offence was taken, enough to mute, as my post was perfectly polite and just asked your own opinion on the article you posted.

Secondly, I do not believe I have ever been anything but friendly and polite to your comments.

Thirdly, not everyone always agrees with everyone else but if we all start muting after a perfectly polite post we will soon have no chat at all!

Lynibis I have seen you so many times insulting people on different posts by different people. Why you think people need your permission to post anything? You can earn you 20 points of comments by writing something nice instead of insulting people or you think you can get more attention for being negative?
