Mrs Sri Lanka Beauty Queen Crown Snatched on Stage over Divorce Claims
Ask a Question
I’ve just read about the Mrs Sri Lanka beauty contest that happened on Sunday.
Apparently the 2019 winner disputed the new winner’s right, Mrs De Silva, to the crown because she was divorced. The crown was removed from her head and given to the runner up instead.
Organisers later apologised saying the crown would be return to Mrs De Silva as she is separated, but not divorced.

Bizarre. I don’t know whether I’m more surprised at their actions or the fact that beauty contests like this still exist. What are your views on these types of beauty contests?
HappyTravels. I view beauty contests as cattle markets. However, having viewed a recent programme, it appears that many contestant view the contest as a steppingstone to a lucrative career. I suppose it depends whose eyes they are viewed from
After reading i can only say that is out of order they shouldn’t took her crown in first place worse thing is what kind of rules they got she is separated but not divorced.personally i didn’t like there rules and people in there country should spoke up for there rights. I am on her side
SilverSurfer agreed, but according to them it was “Mrs” Sri Lanka - their rules were that the contestants had to be married. Which she technically was. She was separated, not divorced. Who knows, perhaps there is a Divorcee or Ms Sri Lanka
HappyTravels Its stupid to enter a beauty contest and you have to go and marry someone first lol
It’s a very outdated kind of competition, although it’s the first I’ve heard for a mrs beauty pageant
