M&S Launches 'Buy Now, Pay Later' Service
In the News
Marks & Spencer will start offering a “buy now, pay later” service on its website next month as it tries to attract younger customers and boost trade going into the key Christmas period.
The retailer has teamed up with Clearpay to offer customers the option of paying for orders of more than £30 in interest-free instalments.
I’ve just used clearpay for the first time and pleased it will be available at another retailer. I had used Klarna before too which is great. Definitely a ploy to make you spend more than intended! but if used carefully will be good to help over Christmas
This is a slippery slope that corporations are doing for consumers to spend, spend and spend and then not be able to pay back so they'll apply late charges, penalties and so on.
Only buy what you want if you can afford it. There are people out there who are in debt because they wanted the latest iPhone..
This wouldn't be for me. I only buy food from M&S and I don't like the idea of wasting money on interest payments.
The op said it was interest free but it isn't for me either. I have lived my whole life on the principle of if you can't pay don't buy. After all if you can afford to pay a set amount after buying on credit, why not save that amount beforehand so you can pay without getting into debt?
Lynibis I guess I didn't read read the end of the sentence I'm with you I always save up to purchase more expensive items.
I think sometimes it is great when u can pay in installments, but what would u get from M&S that is the question.
I am not sure anything is appealing for me...
Well it's always better to save up before buying. I think I would find it soul destroying to be still paying for something months after it's long gone, as would be the case with gifts and food. I also don't like the idea of other people getting into debt to buy me a Christmas present.
