Mum Nearly Lost Her Unvaccinated Son to Measles after TikTok Fake News

In the News

I have lost count over the number of times i have seen stupid and dangerous posts on TikTok and Facebook, this one nearly cost a life of a baby

They were saying the measles vaccine can cause autism , which put a doubt in the mothers mind, so she delayed the injection

Days before she decided for him to have it, he caught measles, causing several seizures and 6 days in hospital in crisis after it caused a severe case of sepsis

It was five years ago and he is ok now, but it shows how social media can be very dangerous

I appreciate we've the right to decide if we vax ourselves and kids. I personally couldn't not vax my kids against things like measles. I was at school with a girl who's mum got rubella while pregnant. The side effects of it, is said girl is blind in one eye, has a heart condition and deaf.

I wouldn't get the rona vax for my kids because I think it was rushed out and suspicious as to if rona was planned/man made and makes wonder if the conspiracy theory nutters are on to something

Jerseydrew I think with some vaccines its a matter of personal choice after weighing up the pros and cons J

Our son has gotten everything vaccination that the Dr's have recommended for him. He had to get some to stop him getting RVS as it would have killed him. I'm always nervous about there being unvaccinated children in his class due to his heart condition.

Honestly I don't think it's tiktok or Facebooks fault it's the mothers fact is she would have been told all this from a health practitioner and what she believes social media my little one just had her last lot of vaccinations today crying alot but it's worth it

Leannexxx I think the problem is sometimes some mothers believe social media more than the doctors L , its the same as when you get an illness, how many people have a look at google to see what it could be there before they make a doctors appointment , i will admit i do sometimes

Leannexxx Yes google is there for you to make an informed decision, the morons on social media are trying to tell you what to do and giving false results sometimes, they are very dangerous

There are side effects with any drug/vaccine, even headache tablets. Same as antibiotics and that Is why doctors dont like to give you any unless you plead. I dont know why people state rubbish things on TikTok/Facebbok as Its a bad Influence on others making people believe. If you`re a responsible Adult then you would do the right thing. You wouldn`t jump off a cliff If someone told you too? Same principle. All my kids have had all vaccines since birth. Same as me.
