You Need to Be Rich to Visit Santa at Harrods

News

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/harrods-accused-of-sullying-spirit-of-christmas-by-turning-santas-grotto-invitation-only-a3932541.html

Well, I knew Harrods was expensive and they like to appear exclusive. They certainly are spreading the word this year - kids will only get to see Santa in his grotto if

1) they have received an invitation to buy the £20 ticket

2) they hold a 2nd tier membership, where they’ve spent a minimum of £2k a year

(this relates to the parents, of course)

With the decline of high street shopping, let’s see how well they do this xmas

ho ho ho!

Doubt the kids care what Santa they visit, this is more about the parents bragging rights.

I suspect the kids Harrods are welcoming already go to private schools, so if anything, Harrods ought to charge more - start as they mean to go on

I'm amazed Harrods is still open. My mum went once and bought their version of a tote bag as that was cheapest thing to buy as a gift with their logo on. I won't go in there. Over priced. More money than sense comes to mind regarding the price of santa.

I can honestly say I don't remember going to see Santa when I was little, yet I know my parents took me as there are lots of photos. I don't think kids care what Santa they see. I was always more interested in seeing the reindeers!

Wow. My daughters will never be shopping there. Even if I was rich my aim would be to stay rich not dwindle it all on overpriced toys lol. My daughters have a lot of toys but to be honest they don't even play with most of them! I've learnt that kids don't need a lot of toys, they need a lot of attention. They enjoy attention so much more 🙂

I look after my grandson on Tuesdays during school holidays. He is a bit older now but his favourite day used to be building a tent with old sheets (even those used for DIY), over my two washing lines. Placing another on the grass covered with the lounge cushions and a little side table. We would then play with cheap water pistols running around the tent, have a picnic lunch inside and then do some learning, disguised as fun, on his tablet or reading books. Lovely memories which I hope he will take into adulthood.

Aww that's lovely 🙂 I'm sure he will remember that, it sounds like he had a lot of fun. My daughter loves building tents then playing or having picnics in them. Even when she's overtired and miserable tent building always cheers her up 💜
