I suppose it did get a bit out of hand, as the neighbour removed his collar, but it did seem as the cat preferred the neighbour
most cats seem to choose where they want to be, and who they want to be with
have you had a situation like this?
My in laws had a situation with their cat & a neighbour several years ago. Long story short. Cat went missing for several weeks, we had asked around / put up posters when eventually we found out a neighbour had him. We went round & the neighbour did indeed have the cat. She had several indoor cats & assumed 
ours was a stray (he had a collar & was clearly well looked after) & had taken him in. She did give him back but we had to go around 2 more times in the following months to retrieve him. The cat was clearly still going & being fed regularly tho. The judus!
Lol definitely sounds like a Tom cat. He probably felt like expanding his territory and the neighbour was more than happy to welcome into the harem 
oh yes! it was over a cat that came to visit me. He just liked to hang out in the garden and used to come into the conservatory when the door was open. Most of the time I never knew he was hanging out. Long story short. He had left home and was trying to move in with me but I didn't know until it reached facebook and then my neighbour was telling his owner I had renamed it, etc. all bull. I had angry cat owners hammering on my door, shouting at me. It was final straw that made me move house. I was being accused of locking the cat in my house and animal crueltry of locking it in a south facing conversatory in the heat. I was shocked. It was complete bull. I would never lock an animal in a red hot conversatory or steal someone's cat. I could never stop the cat coming in to my garden which is what the owners wanted. I was so shook up that my neighbours would be making stuff up. So I ended up moving house. That was final straw. I'd had 11 years of problems with neighbours there but that was it.
Oh no that sounds terrible! The neighbours obviously wanted to blame someone for the reason why the cat wouldn’t stay with them...I wonder why(?). Sorry to hear that they caused you so much trouble
hspexy I had trouble with the neighbours from the moment I moved in. They are the reason why the people before me left, I found out. These neighbours who started trouble over the cat, the wife works with the wife of the neighbours on the otherside, if this makes sense. I think they moved in, became friends at work and then because I had stood up to the neighbours over their noise, bullying etc, they joined forces to make my life a misery and cause a lot of trouble. This was the final straw. I had criminal damage - my fences were kicked in numerous times- can't prove who did it but I know; they would stand in the windows watching me every time I went outside, etc. I put up with so much but I just broke last year and said I can't do this any longer. Things were getting worse and worse like blocking the pavement when I was trying to walk to my house trying to intimidate me. I was monitored by the neighours 24/7. I had to get a lot of help from my family to move but I'm out of there now. They wanted me out. Like I say, they did to the couple who lived there before me I found out.
Translation: Give us money!!
He was hungry so he ate, period. There are tons of cats that would love to get food too rather than hunt for a mouse, wait for left overs or starve to death.
Well, in Cyprus where they basically have a cat city, they're well fed.
Folks give them food and they all eat. Some become really fat. lol
Nothing like this but one if our cats we noticed stopped coming home and the old lady round the back of our house was feeding him ham. He came back in the evening to sleep at home. We didnt mind really, she told us she was doing it.
cute! I guess she liked the companionship, and he liked ham, so it was a mutual arrangement
