Who is Your Mobile Network Provider?
Ask a Question
How many stars would you give your mobile network provider out of 10? Think about speed reliability, communications, tarrifs and offers, rewards etc
I switched to Sky Mobile In January, having previously been with O2 for many years.
Have to say that so far I am very impressed, I got a really good deal for £6 a month.
Plus I believe they piggyback the O2 network anyway.
blacklabrador oh that's great I'm glad you found a more suited network.. I'm with O2 currently but you never know
Nadiaparveen The sad thing was that I rang O2 and told them I was thinking of leaving and if they had any sort of deals they could offer me, but they didn't seem interested.
Bottom line is I am getting twenty times the amount of data with Sky, plus unlimited calls and texts for £3 less a month than O2 were charging.
It always pays to shop around.
We were with Plusnet who use EE and then we switched to Sky and Tesco who both use O2.
I can't believe how shocking the EE network was now I've changed over.
TheChimp really.. I heard EE was voted the best ..well according to their adverts
Nadiaparveen I suppose it depends on the area.
I'm sure that O2 has 99% UK coverage.
With EE, we couldn't even get 4G, but we've had no problems with O2.
Vodafone. Signal is the best I've ever had. Customer service is mediocre. They're expensive if you go direct though. I got a deal through Mobile Phones Direct. Sorry I can't be arsed with the full breakdown of scores.
I'm with giffgaff and tbh its great but there are some other cheaper options around soo might switch don't know yet
I am with Three on pay as you go.
- Speed - depends on the signal quality at the time. At its best I would say it's decent enough. 9 out of 10 for this.
- Reliability - I would rate this 8 out of 10. Usually OK but has had its slight moments.
- Communications - depends on the location but I would say 8 out of 10 overall. Generally works well but the receiver has on the odd occasion reported that I kept breaking up during a phone call.
- Tariffs - on pay as you go, it costs you 3p a minute for a phone call, 2p per text and 1p per MB of data. As well as 40p for a video text and 40p for a picture text. Due to the low prices, I will rate this a 10 out of 10.
- Offers/rewards - sadly, Wuntu (a Three rewards app) was discontinued at the end of 2019 so at the moment there isn't really much in the way of offers and rewards. Therefore, in terms of offers and rewards I will rate it a 5 out of 10. It would be less than that if Wuntu never existed or wasn't very good.
Overall verdict
If you are after offers and rewards then Three probably isn't the best choice. However, if you aren't at all bothered by that and are only interested in having a fairly reliable pay as you go tariff with low-cost prices then I would highly recommend this provider. I only top up £5 but that seems to last me a whole month if not a little longer.
Overall score: 7 out of 10.
RegularComper90 wow that's awesome thanks so much for giving a detailed answer I think you have it best I would say
Nadiaparveen Thank you!
I have written loads of product reviews before, so it's a bit of a habit now.
I have a sim only contract with iD and they are brilliant I would recommend them to anyone. The contracts are 30 day rolling so you’re not tied to a 12/24 month contract and the prices are good. They’re also very reliable, I’ve had no issues and been with them about 7 months now. I pay £8 for unlimited texts and calls and 4gb data, the data rolls over so I often end up with more each month. There are different plans with different prices and it’s very easy to switch.
Nadiaparveen they're really good, they do a lot of different tariffs to suit what you want
Update: typical, had my first issue with them this week, nothing major but contacted them and they helped me sort it easy enough and were very helpful
I used to be with EE and while they were mostly reliable, the price wasn’t good and I constantly had extra charges on my bill every month, could never get to the bottom of what they were but overall I was greatly overpaying and glad I switched to iD
lornaae poor you! I'm glad you switched. . but I wonder why you got charged so much
I’m currently with Vodafone and have been for a good couple of years as they offer discount for many employers - I work for Boots and I get 15% off sim only, but I’m planning on going to Sky when I renew it as it’s a good bit cheaper even after the discount..
I have just this week returned to Tesco mobile after using Plusnet. I would not recommend Plusnet to anyone, it was horrendous. Terrible signal, calls not connecting or cutting off, texts would not send and then sent multiple times. Customer services would suggest fixes that I'd already tried. They sent me a replacement SIM that they said would improve matters - It made no difference. I could go on. So glad to be rid of them.
seasider71 thanks for the heads up. Glad you have a better service provider now.
I am with 02,prepaid,really happy with them,I got an extra allowance during lockdown, free of charge. Can't fault them x
With BT mobile. They piggyback off the EE network. Fastest speeds in the UK for only £12 a month. Outstanding service
I've been with Vodafone since 1996 and had no problem with them at all. I'm going to get my broadband with them once my talk talk contact is up in November.
I've been with BT for a few years but the deal was just not good this time on renewal so moving to Vodafone
