New Scam Alert

Other

Wanted to give you all a heads up that a new text (and email) scam is doing the rounds. I just had a text from a mobile number saying my Netflix membership has been suspended and to click a link to remedy it. I don't have a Netflix account, never have, but apparently loads of people are falling for it and are having money taken and identities copied

I don't understand how people are falling for it. I never open a link in an text or email and will always go directly to the website in question if I believe the email genuine.

Actually thinking about my mum would panic and not being as technology savvy might click through the link. Good to know it's doing the rounds Dilligaf

Just yesterday I got a text saying my PayPal has been suspended for suspicious behaviour. And to login and fix the problem. When I logged in to my PayPal through my app there was nothing wrong with it. Good think I didn't use the login link they sent

I had one on Christmas day saying that I'd received a gift of paintball sessions and to contact them with regard to booking. I knew this was a scam because I'm the worst person in the world for something like this. I can't breathe through my nose so I'm a heavy breather (I never make calls at 2am) and I'm asthmatic so I couldn't hide easily as I would be heard throughout by everyone breathing or wheezing

RuthSwain so many people would've fallen for that, surprise gift from someone at Christmas. As for your heavy breathing, I'm not going to play hide and seek with you 😉

There are a hundred scams going around at the moment, you have to be extra careful, remember that, freebies aren't all free, and that not everything is a good deal even if it sounds like it.

Thank you for letting me know I haven’t and never had a Netflix account but I’ll be sure to spread the news to those who have one

I was going to do their trial before they cancelled it so I too haven't and won't have an account, so many do though

I was charged this yesterday so called 020 3022 6537 and got my subscription stopped and getting my refund within next 7 days. I ordered something from Ebay and I used my paypal account as my card the held had expired so that's when the charge was taken, Apparently I clicked on something that I don't believe I did so it must have been hidden. It's the 1st time in years I have ordered something from Ebay but will stick to Amazon from now on. I have used paypal multiple times for other thi8ngs and never been charged. The guy on the phone was excellent and very helpful

Thanks, but none of that here.

Plus, I don't use Netflix anymore. They lost their mind.

Those scammers constantly update their scams to cover the latest news whether NHS, Netflix, Amazon and the like. We just need to question every email, text and unsolicited phone call.
