New Years Eve & Resolutions

Is anyone making new years resolutions and what is everyone doing for new years eve
No new years resolution for me and as I’m older now I don’t do anything either, just another normal day for me now
No New Year's Resolution for me.I gave up all alcohol 18 months ago and I am pleased I can walk by the supermarket wine shelves without buying any wine.I did this for health reasons.Keep happy and healthy everyone in 2025.
SueWard probably better to give up when it's not new year as you are likely to fail giving up at another time you're more likely to succeed. Well done you
I did a chat on my intentions for new year, but not really resolution in the true sense of the one's we do at this time. However, I have decided to stop cooking meals for friends who are happy to come for a dinner or lunch but never reciprocate. At least 4 friends come at various times and to be honest I am feeling the pinch as I usually only have myself to cook for and then it's not really cooking just eating whatever's at hand.
I hope I don't sound mean but it is also a bit stressful. Will stick to close family now as we always cook for each other.
Lynibis I don't blame you on that. It's unfair when they don't reciprocate. Though to put a spin on it, it could be that they don't have the facilities or don't know how to cook or think their cooking isn't good enough or not thought about it. Not saying it's right just a different view. I do agree with you and don't think you're being mean just the opposite
Jerseydrew well one is a real gourmet and eating is his life lol, he cooks for family at xmas, he is single. Another is a divorced mum who used to live next door to me years ago, another lives with adult daughter who I have never met, she also talks about cooking, recipes etc. The last is my best friend, also single, I have mentioned her before. In the dim and distant past she has cooked me the odd meal, I am talking over 20 years ago but she got into the habit of coming round to me once a week for meal and movie. I haven't been to her home for many years except to pick her up outside for outings etc.
I am a born hostess and no one comes to my house without being fed and watered, even tradesmen, I just don't understand why they never think to invite me for even a sandwich and cuppa.
I never make resolutions don't see the point. We staying at home with a bottle of baileys. Going out too expensive I need my sleep these days too
I won't be doing anything for Hogmanay, we never do anyway. I never make any resolutions either, if I want to do something I will do it no matter what time of year it is.
I have never made New Years resolutions as I know I wouldn't be strong enough to stick to them.
I no longer make new year's resolutions as I seldom stick to them. From now on I just take things as they come.
Unfortunately I struggle to stay up past 9pm! My daughter is travelling to Paris for one night to see the fireworks, madness!
eyeballkerry that's crazy but good on her. It'll be a memory. We need crazy memories and stories to tell our kids
We won't be staying up (never do) nor making any plans for 2025 as OH has been told he needs biopsies end of January, everything is very subdued in the lilyflower household, hopefully we can celebrate mid Feb when results are in.
My New Year’s resolution is working on my mental health. It took a real battening this year.
Not fussed about NYE. I'm fact I hate NYE. No idea why I don't enjoy it, I never have. I do like NY day tho. I see it as a reset, take decs down and write down plans gor the year etc. It's my bday the week after NY and I have some nice plans for that. After that's out the way, I'll be knocking the wine on the head for a good bit and focusing on getting back into shape. Address my health again as I let things slide last year.
Never gone along with the New Years resolution thing, don't really see why you need to wait until 1st Jan to make resolutions, thou I suppose it motivates some people into making changes , so each to their own.
Never make new year resolutions, never have. As for new years eve, I will be staying in, as usual. It's just another day for me.
I don’t bother as could never keep them. We were going to have a gathering tomorrow as we completely missed Christmas due to flu/covid but now that is cancelled too so it’s as if Christmas/New Year hasn’t happened at all for us. If you are thinking of gym membership just don’t. I doubt you’d keep it up and just endlessly pay monthly for nothing in the end. You’ll probably just stop going.
Hopefully this year I’ll actually keep to it, if you set it too high or too much too soon you’ll never keep it up. Do it gradually..
