No 70%/80% eBay Fees Discount in a while...

Other

Been waiting for a new discount, but nothing. 🙁 Hopefully they'll post a new one in the near future as they're a great incentive to add new listings.

Paying the full eBay fee sort of feels like a punch sometimes.

Imnotcheap yes unfortunately they add whatever you are charging for postage to the final price of the item you sell then charge the current fees. ☹️

Imnotcheap don't blame you I just use eBay for buying hard to find bits and pieces.

80% or £1 final listings was always a good incentive to post higher priced items, but e-bay has become a farce these days with too many people trying to scam you, as the buyer seems to hold all the cards when it comes to returns.

Ebay is a marketplace /auction site - as I'm sure we all know ? It is not ,sadly a charity ! I did use it 20 years ago as a seller , thank you Ebay - I made loads of dosh 😀. I accept it is more difficult as a seller these days and you have to look out for the offers (I presume ? ).

As a buyer I will "buy it now" if it is a good price - I will make an offer perhaps . After all if the offer is accepted the money is there , and I probably won't make another offer .

Maybe they think people will have a New Years clearout so don't need to offer any promotions and over Christmas they are probably very busy anyway. I guess its like Amazon where they try to manage staff time. No point offering discount listings at very busy times I guess.

The last one was around December 5th, 2021, so maybe we'll see a new one in a few days.

I got 7 items to list, but don't want to sell paying full fees.

It's now up.

Just unfortunate it's 70% as it used to be 80%. Still way bettee than paying the fees entirely.

I had a small issue with a buyer who somehow didn't notice he bought an American DVD (despite I stated on the title and description), but he agreed to keep it and sell it himself instead.

I read about eBay scams though I always provide accurate photos and tracking ID if anything ever goes wrong.

My nitpick with eBay these days are that their fees are a bit too much.

PhilipMarc There's too many scammers and chancers on e-bay these days, I noticed that you mention sending tracking numbers, I always say in my sales that I post Free 2nd class but discovered that 2nd class has no tracking available, I'm pretty sure the chancers know that and some will say it was received and e-bay will take their word for it and you need to pay them back, so I now post 1st class as with the tracking service I can check to see if it's been delivered.

Anyone who is actually selling on ebay and waiting for this promotion, it might be a good idea, if you have any existing items on sale, to end listing and then put it back up for sale, but Do Not click on relist item, repost it using the sell similar option and all of your sales within the 30 days will come under 70% promotion.

I’m finding it a lot more difficult to make a profit selling on eBay these days. There seems to be less buyer interest in general often a single bid wins items even on items where 2/3 years ago there would be a few bids. The charges have increased making lower value items unviable. Like some of you, I’ve experienced an increase in buyers complaining about delayed delivery of just one day even during the recent severe storm, I think I’ve had a scammer too, item delivery tracked and buyer still claiming they haven’t received it. I’m making less than £3 for the listing, packing, posting and then going back and forth with the buyer and the courier. It’s so frustrating.

I gave up listing anything using the auction option as I noticed that buyers were waiting until the last minute before bidding and winning, I've also had a scammer just recently, I was messaged by a seller "mar-110494" who was asking questions about a 15m set of Alexa compatible LED lights, after giving them the info requested the Lights sold but they were bought by someone with the name "simonl077" here's the thing, "simonl077" sent me a message 5 weeks later saying that the lights were only only 12m and that he bought them for his daughter who apparently was disappointed, after offering him a 50% part refund, he refused and basically demanded that I send him another set or give him a full refund, he also quoted the answers that I replied to "mar-110494" with as the reason for buying the lights and that they were not as described.

Low and behold, I get a return request from "simonl007" stating that the lights were not as described and with ebay putting the buyer before the seller, I had no option but to accept the return, to add insult to injury he sent me a different set of light, cheaper ones and I had to refund him full price I'm totally pee'd off about it and would encourage anyone who gets a message from any of the above mentioned to ignore them and if they buy from you, cancel the sale.

As a seller I always aim to go above and beyond with 1st class and next day postage where possible and sometimes give a partial refund after receiving feedback, (The buyer never knows of this in advance) which at the moment is 100%
