No Fireworks from Sainsburys

I have bought fireworks from supermarkets in the past. But I agree a lot of people cannot be trusted with them so I hope other supermarkets do the same.

I hope others follow suit. If it was kept as November 5th or just one day before or after, depending on weather conditions then it would still cause problems for animals, elderly and children with special needs but preparations would be put in place to cope. As it is, Guy Fawkes night has become endless (through to New Year!) and probably doesn't hold the excitement and magic as the previous generations. There is also the human-with-fire-factor - less accidents.

Unless they are banned for personal use I don't think this will make that much of a difference. The people that want to get them, especially those who want to cause mischief, will buy them from another shop or order them online. Where I live you hear fireworks going off sporadically throughout the year. I'd never seen fireworks being sold in Sainsburys before the ban in my area, so people were already getting them from somewhere else.

I think fireworks should be used at organised displays only, as far too many idiots are getting hold of them and every single year we hear about people and animals getting injured by them.

I hope other supermarkets ban them too. It’s awful when you hear of youths being injured or animals.

Well done Sainsburys. I find it crazy that virtually anyone can buy what amounts to a mini explosive device over the counter.

I've never personally bought them but did it as a child. I think Sainsburys have done a good thing.

We always did fireworks in it back garden growing up. I hope others don’t follow suit as you should be able to make the decision yourself.

They might as well ban knives, bleach and anything else that may be considered 'harmful' or 'bad' for people.
