So I can’t find flour to buy anywhere atm, as everywhere seems to be sold out. It never occurred to me that I could just make my own flour! I mean, Id prefer to buy as it’s usually cheap and easy, but it doesn’t seem hard or expensive to make
have you ever made your own flour before?
Fascinating. It looks like something to try out for fun if nothing else. What a sad state of affairs that this needs to be an option though. 50% of that flour in people's cupboards will be there until it's way past usable.
I have never considered making flour from scratch before - I always considered it to be one of those base ingredients you get, the ones you take for granted obviously. Good to know that it can be simply made
I tried to make my own icing sugar but failed! It was still gritty and ruined the cake.i must persevere though.
Grind your hard fought for rice etc into flour, I'd rather keep the rice. There is no flour shortage https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52212760 It's a packaging problem.
Yes, same with the loo rolls. But people do want what they can’t get right away. And there’s silly folk trying to flog a bag of flour for £50 on eBay! Silly if you can make your own
I guess it could be worth a try as it seems no supermarkets have any. Although when baking I cheat and use the boxed mixtures. Yesterday I made Betty Crocker devils food mix with Cadbury chocolate icing. It was very sickly I prefer the Jane Asher mix
