No Jab No Job

In the News

What do people think of the idea floating about of companies making no jab no job contracts?

As far as I am aware the jab is not compulsory ,therefore this amounts to no more than bully boy tactics by the employer. I understand it may be beneficial for some businesses to encourage staff to have the jab and I'm sure the majority will , but surely it's still up to the individual whether they accept the jab or not it's there body after all, such behaviour by an employer should not be condoned .

Mango4 I can see why a company would look at something like this as it’s there responsibility to protect employees while at work but forcing someone to have a vaccination to keep or get a job is discrimination. I noticed that if you didn’t have the vaccine through religious reasons then that’s fine but not if you don’t want the vaccine, strange!

Getsome I don't disagree with the need for people to have the jabs and this should be encouraged , just the part where they are forcing it on people and making threats about job loses if they don't . It should still be the individuals choice not the employers choice

Mango4 I agree with you, I’m currently breastfeeding and was offered the Covid jag through my work, they told me they can’t say whether it is safe or not whilst breastfeeding so I made the decision not to risk it. the rest of my colleagues all got it but my decision was respected. I wouldn’t like to be forced to have it.

I think it's a great idea. They would only hire sensible people who care about welfare of all.

Of course this would and could only be for new employees

It's a difficult one and we are likely to hear more cases in the coming months . Has always been the case in some industries , No airline pilots or cabin crew have ever complained about having to be "jabbed up" (yellow fever etc) as a requirement of their job . When I joined the RAF we were all used as pin cushions for every jab under the sun (can't remember them asking for my permission 🤔.

This first arose a couple of months back with Pimlico plumbers stating they would not be taking on new franchisees unless they were willing to have the vaccination .

Disturbingly though over 30% of care home staff haven't taken up the offer of a jab whereas over 95% of residents have had it .

No one can force anyone to have the jab , but then no one can force an employer to give them a job , but I suppose current employees could have a case ?

I've had 2 invitations ( ha ) to be vaccinated ( not immunised ) vaccinated and both have been thrown in the bin , being vaccinated won't stop me getting it ( covid ) or infecting people either . I don't deny there's a health problem and I can't say it's a world wide plot to collect dna ( actually ?) but I will decide whether or not I will be jabbed ! All the talk of covid passports etc is just id cards by the back door !! Image

Ann1984 Me too - but realised he was just lying low when he "possibly accidentally" posted somewhere a few days ago "comments went from 1197 to 1198" (I don't know where that comment was - possibly on a deal) he must now realise some of us have worked out his other name. Mr W must take care he doesn't accidentally post in the wrong name. (or call himself profane insulting names to try to kid us).😀

mrgoggll Five minutes off from you - why not make it five years next time.

You say you're not allowed to post a topic or deal (in the MrGoggll name) and HATE the admin. I can't understand why admin tolerate you and allow you to be disruptive,

mrgoggll You say you haven't got it yet! But it appears you'll keep trying and waste NHS money by being tested for it. (Perhaps if you ask them nicely they'll give it you so you can get the positive result you seem to be hankering after).

If you don't believe in the vaccine then why would you waste the time of the NHS?

I heard about this. Its a difficult one as a lot of people could have very good reason not to have the jab but find themselves unable to work 🤷🏻‍♀️

If employees choose not to take into employment people who might endanger the wellbeing of other employees or customers, then I doubt any court would consider it discrimatory. To terminate the employment (which doesn't seem to be the case) of such people would probably be a different matter.

Then people will look into ways to make money without a "job" then and then they might decide to not declare it and pay any money into the system.

Doesn't that already happen?😀 And don't some "upright citizens" use them to avoid paying full whack😀.

While I do think depending on the job it would be advisable to have the jab but it should never be compulsary even if your prepared to take the risk.

But if a prospective employer wants to protect his other employees or customers, some of whom might not be able to be vaccinated, you're quite right it shouldn't be compulsary, but as you said advisable. Unless the job applicant wants to remain unemployed or work for an employer who doesn't give a damn about the welfare of employees.

All this bullshit about the " jab" India is rejoicing in the lowest daily amount of cases since September and none of the majority of the population have been inocculated , herd immunity won !

There are thousands not rejoicing (and their surviving families won't be rejoicing either) it isn't herd immunity responsible for the supposed decrease in deaths (all statistics from India are very questionable) it is more likely to be that the virus has killed so many, that the most vulnerable are already dead and so far fewer to be killed. That's not herd immunity - it's survival of the fittest.
