Coronavirus. What Can't You Find in Stock?

Latest Deals

What non-food stuff are you finding it hard to find in stock during this crisis? Let's start an LD I Want One of Those RIGHT NOW List. Hopefully with some LD links, to help locate out of stock stuff we're are all struggling to find.

Here's my top 3 to kick off with:

Hair Clippers www.latestdeals.co.uk/tags/hair-clipper

Trampolines www.latestdeals.co.uk/tags/trampoline

Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tubs www.latestdeals.co.uk/tags/lay-z-spa

And before we get into a debate about what is and isn't an essential item please note the Government has confirmed the shops that are open can sell whatever they have in stock. The Prime Minister’s official spokesperson said:

“We’ve set out a list of shops which could remain open, and if the shops are on that list then they’re free to sell whatever they have in stock, obviously provided it’s legal to do so.”

My take on it for what it's worth, is that there is no realistic exit from this crisis for at least a year, possibly two years, until a vaccine is developed and we've all been vaccinated. UK retailers need every order they can get right now in order to survive this crisis, and to protect their employees' jobs and the economy.

If you can order online, and get what you need delivered so that you can stay at home and social distance as much as possible, so much the better.

Our local (ish) garden centre, which doesn't usually offer a delivery service has been offering a delivery service - for a price - perhaps your local garden centre might have changed it's policy too? It could be worth phoning to find out? 🐞

tumblespots Yes, that's a great idea. My most local one is a nursery so is slightly different, but has also now started doing delivery. 👍

Hi 1m0g3n

That’s a good one! Nintendo Switch really is difficult to find. There aren’t any! I think your best bet right now is to pre-order one from Amazon Italy. You can use your existing Amazon UK account details to order (if you have one).

If you don’t speak Italalian, use the Google Chrome Browser that will translate the Italian Amazon webpage into English. (See the pop-up box on the top right of your screen)

It’s the same Nintendo Switch as you would buy in the UK, it just has an EU plug.

The price is 329 Euros, about £289 with UK delivery (you pay in Euros).

Johnny Thank you! I think I'll give the Italian amazon thing a go - we're limited at where we can buy things due to Hermes, so we've had to stick to Hermes. £289 is actually really cheap for the Switch too!

Anne1984 , thank you - will keep an eye out. I think I'm steering more towards not having a Lite version, as I want to be able to screenshare and get the numchuck (I know that's not what they're called, lmao) games, haha.

I must be lucky as I've been able to get everything I need. We have a lot of independent shops too so even when there were things like loo roll shortages, our independent shops had things supermarkets couldn't get.

Slippers for my son! I have looked on every online shop I can think of and all of them are sold out in his size! Plus 18-24 month clothes seem to be low in stock. I normally buy his clothes 2nd hand but there aren't any just now. Luckily he doesn't need them for a bit so I've got time to get them.

I don’t know his size, but would these slippers do? (Sizes 5, 7, 8, 9, 10)

Trampoline businesses are having a hard time keeping up with the unprecedented demand.

I hope they bounce back.

Please order everything you can and put my father in law and various friends under immense pressure in the Royal Mail because the government said it's ok. Yay! Johnny, I wouldn't have even said anything it if you hadn't insisted on mentioning it in your post.

it is so hard to find not over priced flour in stock.

I ordered groceries from Sainsbury's online and they had none.

Johnny Asda and Morissons have announced that they are selling flour from their own in-shop bakeries. They sell a 1k bag of flour for approx 60p and 50g yeast for 20p.

Clear A4 240 micron binding covers - I need these as I am 3D printing faceshields for frontline workers.

Those that are in stock have inflated prices! Normal price is around £10 for 100.

Johnny I saw the post office ones, but not sure on the difference between transparent and clear varieties...

The others are good, but around a weeks wait for delivery...I'm looking at a 1-2 day delivery window ideally as can't really wait 😧
