As a biker I hope that they find another buyer soon but do wonder how they got into such a mess???
They put a lot of money into building an engineering apprenticeship venue on their site which never took off, so that may have had an impact. It's a shame as they have been going for years, but the wrong people at the top cause everything to fall
They got in a mess partly because Stuart Garner is dodgy. He owns other companies also in administration.
That is a real shame. Norton are such an iconic British company. Hopefully, it will be bought by someone that cares about the brand
I think its been taken over and reborn many times since it was a major player back in the sixties etc. It's expensive to manufacture in the UK and have a R&D base here too. I don't think they ever had the sales to pay for the main office and development costs etc. Personally I feel they should have based their manufacturing mainly abroad with only final assembly in the UK. Ultimately though it was as a small scale manufacturer and not comparable to Triumph for example. I really hope it can be reborn again with a better management team and better control of costs.
