This or That Should Not Be the Question!

Ask a Question

well. Seems the latest trend in topics and yes you can participate or not. But seriously. Come on posters ?! Is the lockdown and isolation that bad for you?

Can you write with your left hand or right?!

In answer to your question - both. https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/left-handed-right-handed?page=1#recent

I also put this up about 6 months ago https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/poem-chat

There seems to be a lot of this/that or that/this

Not topics you’d want to miss

Will you go or will you stay

Where shall we go on holiday

Can you, can’t you, will you, won’t you

Who knows what we can and can’t do

But it seems Chat may have a stutter

Ask a question, get a reply

Join the response, don’t be shy

Has this had been done before? I did search Chat

No. It came back with this or that!

The whole thing may get rejected

But it was fun getting the points I collected

lilyflower You have summed up why I now dodge the chat section and completely avoid the topics that the usual suspects commandeer. Shameful!!!!!

lilyflower just think it’s so pitiful and there are also some really good convos or ‘valid’ chat subjects. 🙃🙃

The 'this or that' trend isn't really a new thing as it has been going on since I first joined LD 3 years ago; although back then it was known as 'this vs that'. It does seem that you get a load of 'this or that' topics all at once then they go quiet for a while and later come back. There seems to be a load of them at the moment but will go quiet again soon when the members posting them get bored.

Did you not see that I had bumped up this previous topic which covers your point and lots more in great detail.

Serious members are sick to death of twee topics posted purely for points that spoil the whole chat experience for many.

They will try to justify by 'you can just ignore' but it means that worthwhile topics are pushed back and die much too soon, before some have had a chance to see/comment.

Lynibis yeah I seen it bumped. Just seems to me then it’s persistent if you’ve mentioned it before. I might start blocking then and see if that tidies it up.

In the pending points revamp I would like to see all points removed for "Chat" . I would still use it to ask and answer sensible questions as I believe most would .

Why give the points harvesters a "free hit " by giving points for "Scooby Doo v Dangermouse " or carrots v broccoli etc etc . "Tedious " is far too polite a word to use for these topics 🥱.

The other thing is people asking what they should get various family members as presents for special occasions. They usually give no info (male/female, age etc.) which is suss to start with, but how on earth are we meant to know their friends/relatives better than they do?

I refer you to my previous comment . We should scrap all points for "Chat" and "Likes" as both are used by many solely to harvest points .

The points lead to inane topics being posted on "Chat" and random "Liking" purely for the points .

Golfforall I don’t post deals but buy them and join in chat so that’s only way I get points. But tbh. Not here for that so if it got stripped. Fine.

If you are having difficulty in deciding on what to buy for a loved one, it makes more sense to ask those who personally know that loved one; such as friends or relatives. Not random strangers on the internet who don't even know that person from Adam.

I agree that there is too many this or that questions but it shouldn’t be banned just moderated.

I see the app is limited for many options of doing your own moderation. But I guess I’ll just scroll.

I find it extremely strange that topics happily cater for those who just want points but are really not interested in good meaty topics where a real debate can get going. I have just had a topic deleted as being deemed political/religious but it was about the environment and the couple who have 22 kids. It feels more like censorship as it was not inviting those forbidden subjects at all, what happened to responsible free speech? I think like many others I will not continue with chat as my brain cannot cope with twee point gathering topics.
