Money Saving
A friend very recently introduced me to the wonderful world of ‘Too Good to Go’ and I got an absolute beaut of a deal on one of their Magic Bags.
Couldn’t post this in the freebie thread, because I obviously paid for it, but I was so chuffed with what I got for £3.50, I did a little happy dance in my kitchen when I got home.
For anyone unfamiliar with Too Good to Go, they let food shops (big and small) put their end of day surplus and short life items up for sale to the public, rather than chuck them away. Magic Bags are usually around £3-£5 and contain at least 3x the value of what you pay in goods.
So here’s my amazing deal, please share your happy dance gold star bargains.
Brill, no good for me personally, live in country, but such a great idea, quite appalling that a third of all produced food goes to waste, just crazy on every level
Sarahvwomble I’m in a village, but this one was literally walking distance.
There isn’t much food waste with me around, I can assure you
On a serious note, food waste is appalling though, when you consider how many people (especially children) go hungry in our own First World country.
And the amount of empty, deserted buildings. Not sure why homeless folks don't use one to have a roof over their heads.
Plus, abandoned houses exist too and some are furnished. Either the owner had no children or who knows.
PhilipMarc I know, it’s a crying shame. I guess the law is complicated and doesn’t always protect the right people at the right time.
Now I’m really jealous - there’s no Morrison’s near me. . I love all the veg @Icook90.
I tried the Spar one the other night () and Chiquitos ambient bag another night. From there I had the most random mix of things ever :
Cinnamon sticks
Tinned palm hearts
Peach tea
Marshmallows
Hibiscus and chilli drink
Guava juice
Strawberry jam
AliceBell64468 I guess it depends whereabouts you are in the country and how far a search area you have put in?
Perhaps there aren’t many places near you that offer this service?
Also, they seem to release slots at random times. I’m yet to work out the logic in it.
