...when latestdeals sends me an Amazon voucher do I have to apply to my account or can I save it for next time?
Amazon seems to have removed the option to check the balance of a gift card, I can only add it which I don't want to yet.
Also how do I check the expiration, I didn't see it in any emails.

You can save it for next time or if you apply it to your Amazon account, it lasts for 10 years before it expires.
