I have been in and out of the local hospital in the past few weeks and the midwifes/nurses have been fantastic everytime. They really take care of you and make you feel relaxed. They would go above and beyond to make sure you were looked after/had everything you needed (my mother in law had flown over from Norther Ireland to make sure I was ok and they made her some tea and toast). I totally agree that they deserve a pay rise. They do so much and hardly ever get thanked for what they do.

I hope you are recovering and that you can go home soon. Hospitals are never a nice place to be, but you are in the best place to be taken care of.

Hope you're okay now. I always found nurses and midwives were lovely. Really helpful and friendly.

Tasha042 I am fine. It's because I am rhesus negative and have needed a lot of anti D injections and monitoring so they keep a close eye on me. They recognise me when I go in!

MrsCraig that must be nice getting to know your midwives early. My friend had to have anti D injections too before she had her little boy.

Tasha042 It is, especially as they are so friendly and welcoming, plus they know my medical notes so don't have to explain everytime I am in. I have had about 8 injections! They are horrible, but necessary.

Tasha042 6 weeks and 2 days to go! It will definitely be worth it. Not been the easiest of pregnancies, but I am definitely looking forward to meeting my wee one!

MrsCraig aww, yes pregnancy can be very hard. My second one was easy except for pelvic girdle pain but 1st I had gestational diabetes, Pelvic girdle pain and recurrent sinus infections throughout, was absolutely awful.

Tasha042 I assumed that it wouldn't be that bad, how wrong I was! Awful nausea from the start, exhaustion, being admitted to the hospital twice, lots of blood tests, exams, day assessment, amongst other things! As much as I am looking forward to having my baby, it has definitely put me off going through another pregnancy.

MrsCraig bless you, you have had a hard time. Every pregnancy is completely different though. I would happily go through my second pregnancy again, but not my first 😂 they say second is "usually" easier because your body has done it before. I definitely had less nausea and growing pain with second.

Tasha042 I know, I have been told a few times that each one is totally different. My husband and I are happy with just the one anyway!

I think they need to get better pay, their job is very hard. I think the ones in the night shifts should get extra pay and they should pay them a fir hourly wage.

Hope you're on the mend and you get home soon. I was a student nurse and quit. They get treated appallingly by doctors and sometimes patients. I was also told that certain doctors clinics always over run, sometimes by a couple of hours and the nurses have to stay until the last patient has been seen. Even when their shift is supposed to be over. It's a really hard and thankless job, on your feet for long hours, treated badly, paid badly. You have to be a real angel and have to really LOVE helping patients to do it.

I worked as a nurse back home and abroad.. I was at first attracted with the white uniform hence I pursue this profession but love it that much because you got to witness life; death and miracles everyday... You have to be strong for the patient; you need to be emphatic; your senses must work twice and more; you need more than meters of patience, compassion; understanding and love.. The difference of the qualifications here and from my home country (though our curriculum is based on American Nursing) is different that Im not able to practice presently and wholy my profession as a nurse here however I am at the moment working as an auxiliary.. One of the noblest profession is nursing, just sad and frustrating that at times workers in this field are taken for granted... Work twice as much and great responsibility is on their shoulders... bugs me at times that at times the government doesn't as give as much so as not too overwork people in the caring profession... from my observation, most resigns because of the pressure; work overload; over fatigue etc... However, I have to say nurses here are luckier than the ones working in my home country... being understaffed has been the long standing cry of nurses...................................................

some experiences I have with my profession was when patients recognized me outside from work (as am in the market wearing shorts and casual shirt) and here's a lady telling me Ive taken care of her with some fruits on her hand and she gave it to me... gifts being left at our nurse's station addressed to me or Im about to pay my bus fare but then a man who claims that he has been my patient volunteered to pay my fare.. however, the smiles, appreciation and thank you is the best to keep me going in a toxic day... 🙂
