Obsessed with Freebies
Ask a Question
Hi, I wonder if I have to start to worry about my obsession with freebies. Is there anyone else in the same boat? I am in maternity leave so maybe this is the reason but there is not day I get anything for free
I realised I had a bit of an issue when I was getting random clutter that I really didnβt need and wasnβt worth anything to start with... like a single sheet of stickers i never found good ones so stopped bothering!
A good rule for life in general is to not go for something unless you really need it or genuinely want to try it. Getting something you don't really want/need means someone else who could have used it may miss out. I am a competition freak but I only enter those I really want to win and can use for myself or someone I love who could use it. For example, there are no babies in our family so would not want to win a pram which a young mum to be may desperately need.
In the past I applied for all sorts but now I only apply for it if I actually have a use/interest for it
I naturally went towards only getting the freebies I want to use, will use or want to try.
I did start out collecting anything and everything but learned pretty quickly that if you order it - you have to store it. I now only order what I think I will use. The exception to that rule is fragrance samples that I share with friends and family.
There is no such thing as a free lunch . The best that will happen is getting bombarded with phone calls and emails . The worst , that someone can piece your identity together in order to defraud you .
Golfforall I've never ever had that, you've obviously got yourself on one of those mailing lists that anybody can buy!!
Soon you won't have time to order those freebies. So will no longer be an issue. I don't get as many as I used to mainly because of time really
I find that really good worthwhile freebies are becoming harder and harder to find, unless you are willing to pay for the postage which is becoming more and more expensive. Because of this, I am not at all obsessed with freebies as much as I was 5-10 years ago. Though I do apply for the odd grass sample so that I can make a little garden for my dolls house.
RegularComper90Aha RegularComper90, you like Dolls Houses!! I went through a phase of buying them you know, I didn't have time to do them, I just kept buying them off ebay I got cluttered up with 7 and then if that wasn't enough, I started on the furniture, I bought some amazing things, soooooo amazing in fact that they filled 9 Tesco delivery baskets to over flowing, it was an absolute nightmare in the end I had to send the furniture to the local Auction and I got about Β£35 for it all and I gave some houses away to a Charity raising money, honestly, I must have lost a small fortune but it was great fun at the time!!
Chelsea0121 me 2, I have been collecting loads of free samples. I have loads of ads pop up on facebook and instagram I claim for as many as I can.
heck who doesn't love something for free, its so rare in life that something is actually free so when they pop up you've just got to snap up the deal.
I have requested samples of face creams to try but when itβs just a sachet itβs really not worth it. Iβve wised up at last, a wrinkle cream will not work after one application, doubt any do.
I love a good freebie, if an7yone has a Facebook account freebies sometimes pop up on there. I have loads of little perfume samples, they're great I always take them on holiday with me. I have little makeup samples that I take on holiday too. Always keep an eye out on Facebook if you have an account.
I only apply for the little perfume samples as theyβre so easy to carry in my handbag. I donβt see many offers now.
Pjran I love perfume samples they're great for when I go away for the weekend or when I go on holiday
kate1310 all mine have come through Facebook. There are some groups you can join if you have an account with Facebook
Chelsea0121 aw do they I have a Facebook account but not used it for a few year I will have a look see if I see any thank you
I get lots of pop up ads on Facebook and apply through them. Also there are groups for freebies on Facebook and people post links. I got a free 7ml Bobby brown moisturizer today and have loads of little perfume samples.
I hardly ever bother with the Freebies section nowadays as it's mostly Google apps and reposts. Although occasionally you do get the good one. I have been doing alright for freebies off Facebook just lately, particularly perfume samples.
I do feel on looking for good freebies they are hard to come by .On freebies on here though I do feel there is more freebies than free but pay a delivery fee.
I have cleaned up the testing products this year on here and thank JoTarpley for posting a lot which have really come in useful.
I also look on the cashback apps for the freebies I can pick up when going to the supermarket as well . Pick up at least 2-3 a week on the cashback apps like Checkoutsmart.
Itβs great to receive something for free but make sure you actually want it or do you land up with a load of toot.
