An Ode to My Face
Other
I look in the mirror and what do I see, Freddy Krueger staring at me,
My face is so red, blotchy and bright, I'd outshine Rudolph on Xmas eve night.
I phoned 111 as they tell us to do, and a kindly medic said 'oooh look at you!
It looks like an allergy, here are some meds and freeze a wet flannel to place on your head, (well she really said face but that didn't rhyme), by the time I got home it was past my bedtime, so I went to sleep feeling very hormonal, thinking the morning would find me all normal. I crept from my bed at dawn full of dread, to find 2 black eyes and a face still bright red!!!!
Hi lynibis so sorry to hear about you red face hope you get better soon If you put a flannel in the freezer for about 5 mins. Then take out the flannel and put it on your face it should bring down the red on your face This is what I do. Hope it will help you. Hope You can get back to normal soon. ☹
Thanks nicolajaynehend I did that very thing and it relieves for a short time. Off Christmas shopping today so hopefully that will take my mind off it lol!
Lynibis hope you have a lovely time. And yes it will take your mine off. Hope you get what you want. I've just start has well. I do not know were this year has gone. Only seems like yesterday.
Lynibis bless you hope you feel better soon
when your face is shiny and you've santa pants for skin
remember that true beauty will always shine within
Ha ha, been a bit miserable truth to tell, but more from worry than anything else as it went to my eyes. Anyway good news this morning significant but not huge improvement but pleased that it is in reverse.
Ah thanks Johnny, it's improving every day, my thoughts are with those who are really suffering, some of whom contribute here.
Laughter is the best medicine so they say and that reminds me of a brilliant film starring Robin Williams....Patch Adams.
I'm glad to learn that it is improving but, more to the point, did you every discover the trigger? Was it food related?
I have racked my brains for a trigger and the only thing I came up with was that I began taking turmeric for my joints the week before.
My son looked it up and said a rash is a side effect but it was worse than just a rash.
However when I spoke with the chemist when getting advice for what cream (the E45), she said it seemed like it could be a bacterial infection, hence the antibiotics.
Just glad it is nearly gone lol. Thanks for your support and concern x
Lynibis A word of warning E45 is a cortisone cream and if you are using it on your face please use sparingly - over-use thins the skin and can cause damage to the surface. That said, it is used for short term impetigo problems so it is useful. I've a nickel allergy but haven't used a cream in years - knowing the trigger allows avoidance.
I wish my joints were that flexible lol, still small mercies, at least I am not green....apologies to any pc aliens reading!
Well I really don't know what the hell is wrong
Doc said by end of week it will be gone,
Strong antihistamines every day, E45 doesn't keep it at bay,
The whole thing is like a Brian Rix farce
But still it's as pink as a gibbon's a**e.
Itching and scratching with skin like old rope,
More wrinkles accruing and I have lost hope
As no one can tell me if it's allergy or worse
Bacterial infection? Or maybe a curse!
I just want a lotion to soothe and calm
But everything stings, there's no cooling balm
I always complained that I looked deathly pale
But now I just look like I drunk all the ale!!!
I'm so sorry to hear you're still itchy,
It's enough to make one quite twitchy
It sounds more a case of viral but that doesn't help your survival.
It explains why you've been so quiet,
I've missed you - your're always a riot.
What's wrong with your Doc?
Didn't he clock?
Did he only mock?
He needs to take stock and end this deadlock!
I hope you can beat this interloper,
Nothing worse than the look of a toper.
Get well soon. x
We're the Pam Ayres and Victoria Wood of LD! Well, apparently Vic went to my old school so maybe I sat on her seat or something.
Good news is I stopped using the cream the pharmacist gave me 2 days ago as it tingled and burned and today big improvement so reckon ok by weekend. Good old sudocreme on neck last night and really helped.
Fine thank you, it took about 8 weeks to totally fade but all is well now, thanks for asking
Yes thanks Ann, it is now a distant memory and I just hope it is not something that is reoccurring.
There doesn't appear to be any marks or blemishes left from it so that's a blessing, got enough without acquiring more!
