Old Car or New Car
Ask a Question
What do you drive? A new or old vehicle?
I love cars and always interested to see what others are driving.
If money was no problem, what car would you purchase? A lovely brand new German car or an old classic?!
I'd love a new German sporty number, however finances dictate that's probably not going to happen.
My last car was bought as an ex demo car, meaning it had only been used for test drives etc.
It had less than 2000 miles on the clock but I got it for about Β£8000 less than the asking price of a new one.
Yes the ex demo vehicles are normally good finds when you get them! And the price difference is amazing, I am hoping to find something like that once I have saved further. I am handing back my Vw Polo R Line, and have bought a MK1 Ford Focus as a run around in the meantime whilst I save for a new one!
Yeah, German cars are normally the best ones. Japanese and American ones are really good too.
The French like their Renault and Peugeot but those brands I've always seen as "cheap" and "unreliable" but admittedly they're fine for whomever likes it. Just the other day I saw a Renault car that I'd describe as "An Ugly Mercedes".
Rockman yes Rockman I would recommend the German brands over any brand - I find that in general they have a lot less warranty problems and also wear and tear items last a lot longer compared to those on other brands. I got my mechanics qualification with Peugeot and would agree that sometimes they can be more unreliable, but think the older ones seem to be more reliable compared to the newer technologies and newer problems!
A ten year old vauxhall astra if money was no issue Iβd have a Morris minor! But for now my little car will do to get me from A to B.
My Skoda Fabia is 5 years old now. I hope, touch wood, it lasts for a while longer. I got it when it was 3 months old with a few hundred miles on the clock for a great price as it was used by Motability Car Scheme before hand and obviously was not used much. What would I love to buy would be a pickup so I could move stuff around. Instead I need to move around the kids
Old cars. Not a big fan of modern cars these days.
Btw, Seat and Volkswagen vehicles are the same for those unaware. The difference between these two tends to be that Volkswagen brand is held in higher respect and more valuable.
If money was no problem i would for sure buy a mark 1 escort. Beautiful retro car that i owned many many years ago..... if only id known how they would go up in price. I think i sold mine for Β£300 in the 80s it would probably be worth around 20 grand now
i go for somewhere in the middle, not brand spanking new but not old old either... although think itβs crazy how much new cars cost now and even how much they still cost when they are a good 6-8 years old...
Id rather an older simple car. The new cars they have now with so many electronics can be a nightmare when things go wrong because the mechanics dont know whats wrong half the time. Weve got a 2010 citroen c4 picasso and a 2008 ford fiesta. I sold my Peugeot 106 Quiksilver when we had another baby as 3 doors just arent practical with a car seat. I really want a like green vw lupo my wife on the other hand wants a top of the range 4x4.
