Got Any Old Video Games in the Loft?
In the News
A video game auction in the USA has just seen a copy of Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 shatter records by selling for $1.5m or £1.1m!
Bearing in mind this is a game that sold millions of copies it is quite incredible. What seems to have made the game so sought after is the fact that it comes from a very early production run and is still sealed in near mint condition.
The auction house estimated 'fewer than five' copies in such good condition exist. If you find one in your loft don't open it!
I've still got a copy of Super Mario 64 somewhere but its well used to say the least, it was probably the best game on the system and had a huge amount of content so spent many hours on it back then.
I never owned an N64 or this game although I did have a SNES back in the mists of time. Yes lots of old copies out there but not many as rare as this one. I think it has shocked everyone how much it sold for. As with all auctions an item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
Our loft is filled with a lot of old games plus the consoles as well. It is just having the time to go through it.
Even if they don't make you rich there is still fun to be had. I dig my Nintendo Wii out occasionally.
