Older drinkers are at risk of discrimination in pubs because they do not have smartphones to order food and drinks on an app, a charity has warned.
A man was refused service at The Angel at Corbridge on Monday
They told him customers were required to use an app to order and submit their contact details to NHS Test and Trace, despite government guidance that allows drinkers to fill in their details on a paper form if they are unable to use the official NHS app.
Its the same with paying bills, you have to have a bank account to do this now, there is no freedom of choice for the elderly
Whilst I am only in my 50s I don't currently have a Smart phone, I think I going to have to give in and get one .
Its the same at many fuel stations now, there is no attendant , you just pay by card , if there is a mistake or malfunction you have to call a helpline
I do have a Smart phone for work and just a old Android phone for calls for personal use. My husband as Smart phone but I don't want to be refused service if I'm not with him
I have smartphone, but refuse to have that big brother test and trace app. I just fill in my details on paper form and pay with cash.

I read this and told Mr T. He thought the same as me (as neither of us has a smart phone) they will lose business. Nothing could induce me to try and learn how to work one of those funky phones. I just want a phone to make a call or text and don't want to be a slave to it.
Although nearly 70 I am happy to use a smartphone for this but it might take me a few minutes! My husband wouldn’t be able to as he has a Windows phone but I am close to persuading him to upgrade. It is the way the world is going and most of us have the choice to join in or miss out. I have resisted most new devices as they have been introduced but would hate to be without my iPad and the internet now.
