Once upon a Time

Has anyone else watched this show on Netflix? I must admit it is one of the most unusual series I have ever seen but it didn't take me long to get hooked. There are 7 seasons with 22 episodes in each and I have watched 3 in just over a week!

It is about fairy tale characters who, under a curse, live in modern day Storybrooke with no memory of who they really are. Their story is told in flashbacks.

I have never been a particular fan of Robert Carlyle but he deserves an award for his portrayal of Rumplestiltskin/Mr Gold and is mesmerising to watch.

So nice when someone has enjoyed something you like yourself. I have a couple of people who couldn't get past the concept of the show and began to wonder if anyone else loved it as much as me. But of course, they wouldn't have made 7 series had it not been a success.

I watched 2 series of it but I drifted towards Grimm instead.

I was wondering if you might have watched angemski. I haven't watched Grimm but will wait until I have finished this one. You can watch both you know! Did you lose interest? What did you think of Robert Carlyle?

Lynibis I have to say I thought Robert Carlyle took a very good part.....I just lost interest in it. The two programmes were running at the same time and I think Grimm was just a little quirkier to watch and I couldn't guess what was coming next. With OUAT it was a case of 'No don't do that! She's going to do that! I just knew she would do it!' 😄

I watched it a while ago. It started off strong but gets quite weak towards the end. But the characters are good, and his performance is stellar throughout

I must admit my attention is not as gripped now I have started series 4. Starting to lose track with all the back and forth but shall bear with it just to watch RC.

Lynibis his storylines gets deeper and more complex as the series progresses, so you won’t be disappointed - he will get even more screen time to the point you start to think he's the lead character lol (the other characters get very dull towards the end)

hspexy brill, I will watch to the bitter end just to gaze at him lol! I don't remember him being half as handsome and sexy in the full Monty.

Lynibis lol I definitely did not find him appealing in the full monty either, and nor is he my type, but for whatever reason, he’s able to exude an appeal that most of the sexier Hollywood counterparts lack. Even as a goblin he seems fascinating! Lol

Currently watching it and on season 5 I think. I am enjoying it although I feel it's weird for some of the people to be multiple characters. Although I do enjoy it I sometimes struggle to understand what's going on. Someone else mentioned Grimm and again that is good for the first few seasons (except some of the CGI)

Yes I must admit I am getting a little confused here and there but haven't felt they play multiple characters, just same person in past and present. It's all the time travel back and forth that gets me!

Lynibis yeah the time travel makes you stop and think.... And get confused lol. By my note about playing other characters it was more an also known as in the Disney world, other characters will know them as something else from the land they are from but the actual person/character is the same to us. It's an interesting idea but way confusing (I would go in to names and more details but may ruin it)

I watched a season or two until they stopped airing it here.

Robert Carlyle is amazing in it - easily the best actor/character from the series.

I've been to Storybrooke too - it's a real town south of Vancouver (Steveston, Richmond) and when I went a lot of the shops had their Storybrooke signs up - not sure if they still do though.

Wow, that's great, do you live in Canada? Where is here? I am watching it on Netflix.

I do agree about RC and on the side of the girls I have to say the Regina/Evil Queen character is excellent too. She knocks spots off the other evil women.

Lynibis no I'm in the UK, but they stopped airing the series here after only a season or two. Think it was on Channel 5. Maybe another channel picked it up at some point, but from what I remember, nobody was interested when 5 dropped it.

Worth a trip to Canada though - Vancouver and surrounding areas are really nice to visit, and they film so much stuff there, you might bump into a film set. We ran into a couple of film sets there, but unfortunately not for things I was actually interested in.

Oh no, he has cut his lovely hair off! He still looks good but I loved his wavy locks. Don't anyone tell me but I really hope he and Belle get back together.

Well that's series 6 bitten the dust and no matter how much I loved it I have a feeling that is where it should have ended. I have heard that season 7 was not so good, but hey.....we'll see.

The end of 6 was pure syrup and got me blubbing like a baby. I was so glad Gold came through, he was my anti hero throughout, a real enigma and I would have hated to see him turn 100% evil.

I shall watch season 7 with an open mind, but...........

Well I finished series 7 tonight and I am glad I did. It was (in my opinion) a little bit cobbled together and I lost track a few times but was worth the ride for the last couple of episodes.

For those who have seen it I will just say I loved that someone came through but won't give it away for those who haven't finished yet.

I have got through over 150 episodes in a relatively short time but I consider it time well spent!

I started watching this based on the recommendations on here. I'm only on series 2 but I'm enjoying it so far. I've always thought Robert Carlyle was an amazing actor and he is fantastic in this. I actually really like his character as he portrays him so well! I hope he and belle get back together.

Glad you are enjoying it MrsCraig and of course I will not spoil any of it for you. Although there are many episodes over 7 series I never got tired of it and can envisage myself watching it again in a couple of years time.

Had to come back to ask if anyone watched our Robert in Cobra? Not the best drama I have ever seen but I wanted to see it through to the end. If they make another series I will definitely watch.

I think it was the unique storyline that drew me in too, it was just so unusual and probably appealed to the kid in all of us.

I've tried to watch it twice and not got past season 2 - not because I didn't like it, life got in the way a bit. Might have to give it another go as it's on Netflix
