Organising a Christening

Ask a Question

I'm organising my sons christening and want to make sure that I don't miss anything out. I've got an idea of what I want/need but as I've never organised one before I want to make sure I get it right.

So what would you say makes a good christening?

Oh it will definitely be all about our son! We have a family christening gown, that his dad, his uncle, his granny, his great uncle and his great granny have all worn, so outfit is all sorted. Mother in law is a baker, so she is making his cake and lots of other sweet treats.

We want it to be a brilliant celebration due to everything we've been through with our son and we want it to be a chance to thank our friends and family for all their support, so a little about the guests too.

Ann1984 they certainly wouldn't! I hope so! I've got plenty time to organise it and my MIL and granny will help too.

We had the family gown for our daughter ti get christened, then bought a new outifit for the party. My mother in law made a lovely cake with her name in blocks etc but we bought the big asda one with a photo to cut and give people. We had the after party in a local hall and hired a soft play (bouncy castle, ball pit, ride ons etc) for the kids (which was brilliant) they even added a massive speaker to the package to play music. We decorated the hall in the morning beforehand and set out the buffet. We also did little favour bags with sweets in with a little tag that said Our daughters name and christening day with the date. It was a lovely day.

The priest that done my cousins christening was a fire breather and he performed at ger christening 🤣

Wow sounds fab! My mother in law is making his cake and other wee sweet treats. We are in Scotland and the christening will be in Northern Ireland so we are having it in a hotel so they can do most of the decorating and the food for us. I've seen some ribbon which can be personalised so going to use that for his favours.

CathSho13 yeah I've seen stuff like that. I plan on getting some of those too, although my husband might have to put his foot down to stop me going overboard!

CathSho13 did you just buy tags and write on them or did you order personalised ones from somewhere?

CathSho13 I never thought to look on eBay for personalised stuff. My handwriting isn't too bad, but I guarantee I would get annoyed having to write so many tags!
