Has Original Listerine Been Discontinued?

Ask a Question

Does anyone know whether the pee coloured death flavoured Listerine has been discontinued?

I've been trying to get it everywhere, but can't seem to find it ☹️

Omg! How else am I going to get the sensation of all my inner mouth from stinging and burning?

I think that I need to send Listerine a tweet and see what's going on.

a) have a look, (when allowed) in all small shops and stock up. b) try another 'blend'.

AliceBell64468 I didn't know that, I thought that it was the other way around 🤔

TheChimp yes so did I, until recommenced otherwise by the dentist! The toothpaste is what protects your teeth so you don’t want to wash it off with the mouthwash! 😀

AliceBell64468 that’s exactly same thing I’ve been told by my dentist. Not to rinse it of the toothpaste with water or mouthwash for at least for 0.5 hour! Maybe mouthwash should be used during the day to refresh the breath after food 🤷🏻‍♀️

Johnny That is the one, but I'm too tight to pay £2.99 plus postage for 500ml.

Thanks though 👍

The one with alcohol? I hope not. That one seems to suit me better than the non-alcohol one.

I have stopped buying Listerine since it’s impossible to get original. They insist in flavouring everything else with spearmint which I hate. I am buying oral b now.

philterri Have you tried the Total Care Listerine?

It leaves a horrible film in your mouth.

Since lockdown I've been using corasol, although I only buy it when it's offer

beccatavender Is that the horrible tasting one but is great for you oral health?

I thought that Listerine tasted rough, but the original Corsodyl isn't very nice. Good for you gums though.

You get used to the taste, started using as I have receding gums and it seems to help, just need to use the daily one 🙂

I've started to search for it as I'm low on mine, it us nowhere to be seen, and silly money on the big on line sites.....and I don't want to HAVE to use the other flavours...I have them for my kids..why would they pull it and not saying anything 🤔

tracilouise If you watch the recent Listerine advert, it shows all the different varieties at the end, but the Original one is nowhere to be seen.

They've definitely discontinued it 😢

Can't you make your own by mixing bleach with battery acid and jalopeno chilli's perhaps using water to dilute to the correct strength?

<please don't actually do that>

I wrote direct to the manufacturer and they said there was no call for it anymore, so they have discontinued it in the UK and Ireland, they have replaced it with ginger and lime!

Devastated.

Unbelievable! I bought a Ginger flavoured one instead and noticed the shelf I stored it was sticky. It's full of glucose and sugar! I'm Type 1 Diabetic and the Original didn't have the disgusting sweet taste caused by using sugar or artificial sweetener Sorbitol to sweeten it. Sorbitol gives you diarrhea if you swallow it. Get your act together Listerine! Original Listernine is now selling at around £30 a bottle!

It should be pointed out that Vietnam which has advised the use of anti-bacterial mouth wash since the beginning of this pandemic has had very low covid transmission and death rates.

If you check out Dr Campbells channel on youtube there are some interesting studies that show how beneficial mouth wash can be. It's another little thing that could help so a good time to have a mouth wash regime. Any mouthwash though even plain water or maybe water with a pinch of salt could be beneficial.

corasol stains your teeth, so don't use it to often. Listerine Original is fabulous to use on stings and insect bites. It takes the sting out of you in seconds, so stock up when you can.

The original formula also may have health benefits for the feet

The probable reason for removing the product is that it was alchohol based. Alchohol actually causes tooth degradation and bad breath as it dehydrates the mouth. Many now try and produce alchohol free mouth washes. Much better for the body and your teeth and gums.

You beat me to it D, i just noticed TCs post and was going to say the same thing , alcohol based mouthwashes are a no no

Also i discovered something a while back that i use on my teeth and its the equivalent of having them whitened and strengthens them , bicarbonate of soda

If you wet your toothbrush , apply a little say from a small container as i do , then squeeze on the toothpaste and brush , preferably using an electric toothbrush , i guarantee your teeth will be sparkling white within two weeks

Mine are in very good condition using this method, its cheap and if you can get used to the taste its an easy remedy

Its not something recommended by dentists , but manufacturers do add this to their toothpastes, but not enough to have a dramatic effect
