What Paint Colour Do You Recommend to Paint a Bedroom?

Ask a Question

Hi everyone! I will be repainting my bedroom but want to have a few ideas of what colour/theme to paint it.

The room colour is currently purple so I won't be painting it purple (obviously).

Thank you for your suggestions!

I always get a colour card and pick what will fit in with the furniture in the room and curtains and bedding personally I don’t like dark colour walls in bedrooms

Mick82 me neither I currently have a lilac colour painted for years. I now want a different colour for a change. I usually think of the colour and then start looking for the furniture.

I done mine in grey, three painted and the fourth a darker sparkly paper. My husband wasn’t sure about the sparkle but it looks really good. My bedroom is very relaxing.

I prefer light shades of green... very restful. In fact I like shades of green in most rooms.

I prefer a pale colour in the bedroom then you can add splash of colour with a couple of cushions and a throw on the bottom of the bed.

Go all white and add colour by accessories that way you can recycle vases frames etc by spraying them. Plus easier to touch up no need to match or if colours you used are discontinued

If you are keeping your current bedding you may need to choose a colour scheme that coordinates with that. White is the easiest as you can then have curtains and bedding any colour you want.

gerrykelly25 That is true. I was thinking of painting the walls white as I want the theme colours grey and white which are calming colours.

Surely this is all down to personal choice? Some consider the bedroom to be a cave, a love palace, a den, or some might wish to hibernate, or even get up with the lark. I think it's down to what hours you sleep, or what your intention for a room is and I think it changes with age.

CaroleBallard I am getting married soon and want to change the bedroom to a colour which we will both be okay with. I think grey might be the wisest choice

Justshopping Have you asked your partner what they would like? Grey is depressing, especially teamed with pink, it looks good but I've lived in it and it was horrid, and so emotionally draining for me. I would prefer green as it's very calming.

CaroleBallard I was thinking of having the walls painted white. Grey carpet and grey shaneel curtains. Mirror wardrobe. And a bed preferably shaneel grey to match with the curtains.

It all depends on the amount of light the room gets, and something soothing. My bedroom is a light grey, which I think is the new beige 🙂

beccatavender I get a decent amount of light in my room in the Summer. I wanted to do light grey but im thinking of white because if I want to change the grey room into something else then I can do it easily.
