Singapore is offering a one-off payment to encourage people to have babies during the coronavirus pandemic.
The worry is that citizens are putting off parenthood as they struggle with financial stress and job layoffs.
Not sure if such encouragement will ever be needed over here, although I’m sure people are putting off many big decisions, such as moving home or changing jobs, during these times of uncertainty
I’m convinced our nation could have a baby boom with so many furloughed and working from home.
The opposite is true. Rather than a COVID baby boom, there is a COVID baby bust here in the UK.
People are postponing starting a family until the economy recovers, worried about money and redundancy.
I think people also don’t fancy being in hospital right now (whilst there’s a pandemic) if they can avoid it, so are putting off getting pregnant.
Johnny As always Johnny I think you are thinking the best of people ? The minority ,who actually plan when to have children may well be putting the event off ?
However I tend to agree that many more will just carry on regardless .
A thing that may obscure the outcome though is the closure of nightclubs etc - maybe less children conceived after a drunken unprotected encounter in the early hours of Saturday/Sunday ?
I think the people who gave birth before lockdown and in lockdown are more effected. Now everything is back to the new normal....
I think if u are low income and u are having your first baby there is a 500 pounds help....one off payment.
Why are we encouraging people to have kids when it is over population that is causing all the problems with the planet anyway.
Could go either way here couples who was forced to spend more time together could make babies or fight more.
