Passport and Driving Licence

Ask a Question

My daughter turns 18 later in year and is hoping to learn to drive when covid allows safely. I have been told previously its easier to apply for driving licence if you have a passport. Problem is if I get passport before 18 will I only get 5 years not the 10 for after. I really want to give her the provisional but not sure how to go about it for the best

What do you think of this?

She'll get 5 years but if you apply just before that expires they will renew for the next 5 years within the same fee.

Imnotcheap She'll get a full 10 years as she's over 16 see this https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-adult-passport

zai your information no longer applies. All renewals carry a fee.

Imnotcheap She'll have to sign the forms herself as she's over 12. Need two photo's one countersigned, (try not to get a self-employed person) and they must hold a UK passport. Full original birth certificate. It's taking approx 8 - 10 weeks for Adult first timers 🙂

Think she still got signed photo from getting age Id to prove she was old enough to go to a concert that was cancelled (she looks younger than she is) lilyflower

Imnotcheap It has to be recent, signed and dated by the same person who countersigns her forms AFTER she has filled them in. Any questions just ask 🙂
