‘Pay Your Age’ Build-a-Bear Bear Chaos!

News

So the company decided to do a promo and I’m guessing they were unable to fulfil the orders?

Anyone get caught up in it?

reminds me of the time kfc were giving away chicken, but as the staff were spending all day dealing with giving out freebies, they ended the promotion early

I heard about that last night on the news. I had also seen the promo online at various freebie sites. I can't believe anyone would actually take their child to that place when it is full price. I know when I was a kid if I wanted to spend that much on making a teddy bear the answer would be no, you have plenty of bears already.

I know what you mean - it’s so expensive. Then again, the smartphone, tablets and consoles cost more, although that don’t stop the kids of today wanting it all!

I would never buy my child a build a bear, even with the deal on! They can get a normal bear or no bear at all! One of the shops in Glasgow had to close at 9.30am as they ran out of stock! Some places had queues of upto 7 hours! I understand people wanting to get a bargain but I wouldn't be waiting in that queue!

same here - complete madness for just a toy?! I love a bargain but really, those bears are perhaps £25 or so, so to spend an entire day in chaos for something you still need to pay for really isn’t worth it

hspexy Exactly! I love a bargain too, but wouldn't be standing in line all day for a bear! Go to a charity shop and get a bear from there if you are after a bargain! They should have realised how busy it would be and should have had extra staff, more bears and ran it over a few days. I would rather spend the £25 the bear costs on a wonderful day out with my child rather than standing in a queue all day!

MrsCraig lol I’m going to guess that some people, particularly in this day and age, just enjoy misery and torture...only way to explain why anyone would find themselves and choose to stay in such an awful situation

hspexy It is the only way to explain it! I can't imagine why you would want to do it otherwise!

MrsCraig I totally agree with you! I also would rather pay the full price and buy it when I want for the occasion I want to and I really loveeeeee a bargain. I feel like this completely missed the point of build a bear. I thought this shop and higher prices are due to the whole experience that you are paying for. In this whole madness there was nothing about the great experience that they are offering. Everyone was tired, upset and no one cared how the teddy was made buy the time it was their turn 😂

Marlena Exactly! It is supposed to be all about the magic of picking your bear, adding the accessories etc If you are just after a bear, then you can get it from anywhere! Build a Bear is supposed to be about the experience and they totally lost that.

They went about it all wrong .it should have been a few days. Not just one day, and it was still a lot of money. I do not think they will do this again. Some of the queues were over 8 hours to wait to go in. And some never got in. To me it was a wasted of time. You and children could have done some thing better with the day.

Exactly - a nice day out, chilled out and relaxed versus a day of chaos with angry people perhaps lynching the staff lol. They probably should’ve ran a lucky draw competition and only offered the discount to a selected few to make it more manageable
