I am undecided lol! I think I need to watch a few more documentaries but I have seen one or two which do seem believable. It always seems to be in America where the sightings are though lol! Same with ghost or paranormal programmes too.

I know which ones you are talking about on Blaze - I love watching them. I watch with an open mind but feel that we are kidding ourselves if we think that we are the only beings living in the Universe. (particularly liked the episode about night vision technology, Kevlar etc)

How can you say you don't unless you have travelled the whole universe and seen no other lifeforms. The most realistic answer is we don't have enough data to decide but the fact we are life and exist in the universe and mathematically it is extremely unlikely we are alone. Besides alien life is probably common, multi-cell life less common, large intelligent life much less common again and life who have developed technologies even rarer again. Maybe in the whole milky way galaxy there are only 4 technological civilisations all in stable remote areas to allow billions of years of evolution.

The circumstances of our solar system are actually quite rare including a very stable star, most of the stars we look at in the night sky are not so stable.

Intelligent technological civilisations may be very short life too, maybe they only last 10,000 years before exterminating themselves or exhausting resources.

I certainly believe in life outside the earth and we may even discover more life in our own solar system, in the higher atmosphere of venus, the soil of mars, the ocean of Europa etc and that's before we even venture outside our own solar system and visit other stars.

I think there is, but we are not intelligent enough to be of interest to them. I'm sure we are being monitored by many though. Maybe Elon Musk will give them interest.

No one really knows whether there are life forms on other planets or not. But I am open minded to the idea.

I think it seems unlikely that we are the only planet in the universe to have life.

Also maybe in 10,000 years if we don't destroy ourselves we would have colonised many different star systems and each system would develop different life based on our dna. Different gravity, radiation, food etc would lead to different shapes of people etc. Maybe in 10,000 years it will be like star trek where every planet you go is a small variation of humans. Actually maybe that is true of other aliens and we may come across a species of alien that has colonised 1000 stars and each colony has evolved differently. There are new more technologically advanced telescopes being developed that may have the capabilities to spot the signs of life on other planets around other stars. So the question to whether alien life exists may be answered in our lifetime.

I had a dream once, a nightmare really where we ventured to a new world which we knew had life because of the gases in the atmosphere and as the ship got closer we could make out a huge amount of life on the surface it was everywhere. So the ship launched a probe to see the life and as it ventured into the atmosphere a high pitch sound could be heard, as the probe got closer to the surface the sound was of screaming of pain and agony and the tearing of limbs and flesh. The whole surface was simple large animals without intellect. They were like giant sized bacteria and amoebas and the whole surface of the planet was these creatures consuming each other with no space and no pause in the consuming, it was like microscopic life scaled up to our size. It was life where the brain hadn't evolved, life operated on simple instinctive behaviour purely consuming what was around it or being consumed, that was all life on this planet, nothing more than that.

πŸ‘½'I Want To Believe' (X-files) A great film to watch whether you believe or not is' Fire In The Sky' its a film based on the story told by Travis Walters, a logger, who claimed to have been abducted, his brother and other work mates saw the abduction take place, claiming they saw him paralysed by a beam of light from a low hovering unidentified craft above them, then physically thrown through the air, in their fear they drove away without Travis, who had disappeared when they returned to get him almost immediately afterwards. They were all interrogated by police and for a time even under suspicion of Travis's murder. They all stuck to their version of events and all passed lie detectors. Travis eventually turned up naked and severely dehydrated in the wooded area from which he had last been seen, his mental state was severely unstable, he was in a state of absolute fear and could not move or speak. He was hospitalised and did not communicate for almost a year. When he started to recall memories and examine the flashbacks he was experiencing, what he had to say is really quite intriguing if not somewhat disturbing. It's the most compelling alien existence story I have come across. (...and by eck I think I've read them all!!!) Whether or not you're 'a believer' the film definitely leaves you with food for thought. A close second based on alleged 'true' events is 'Communion' with Christopher Walkden. (Aliens in your house, you may need a cushion to hide behind watching this one!)πŸ‘½ All in all, I agree with those who have already said, The Universe is so vast it would be rather arrogant of us to believe we are the only intelligent life here. The question for me is not if they exist, rather have they ever visited the Earth, and what evidence is there for that. πŸ‘½

The 'Fire In The Sky' abduction of Travis scene...

Not seen Blaze, but I highly doubt we're the only planet with life, so yes I believe.

Have they visited us though? That's another question entirely...

As I write this I'm travelling at about 300th of the speed of light because the sun rotates around the milky way galaxy at 1/2 million miles per hour and the milky way galaxy is moving at about 1.5 million miles per hour so combining them roughly equals about a 300th of the speed of light. Stars are always moving. Today the nearest star is about 4.2 light years away (not counting our own sun) but 70,000 years ago the nearest star was less than a light year away travelling through the oort cloud. Life has existed I think for over 4 billion years yet only 70,000 years ago Schultz star was relatively close. I wonder if Schultz star had any inhabited planets and when they were so close they visited us. How many stars have passed close to the Earth and the sun in 4 billion years. How many planets previously existed in our system but were thrown out of orbit or collided with other planets? Did the seeds of life start on earth or merely travel to earth?

The largest biomass on the earth is within the soil, you don't need an atmosphere to have life just energy and water and the right ingredients. Some say life started deep in the crust of the earth. Many people think life requires a planet like earth with oceans etc but life probably starts within the crust with the strange chemical reactions taking place that create life at high temperatures and that life adapts and works it's way to the surface. On Earth it took to the seas and land and formed new shapes but on other planets it just stays within the soil as the planet's atmosphere maybe hostile to life. I'm just making the point alien life is probably very common it's just the long stability required to create advanced creatures who develop technology is probably extremely rare. I would expect alien life to be confirmed within decades but discovering other civilisations could take thousands of years.

Definitely. We live in one planet out of many so it's entirely possible there are living beings in others, but we have never seen or heard about them. Thinking about that, aliens might actually have real different genders from humans than the nonsense we hear.

Maybe it's better they're left out as it is. Earth has too many problems as it is.

I find it just as easy to believe there is no other life in the universe as to believe there is. Make of that what you will.

The only problem with that is you have to come up with some theory why life only exists on earth when there are trillions of trillions of planets. You can look to the horizon on this planet and assume nothing is beyond it because you haven't been there or you can assume something similar is over the horizon.

The only way I could think there was no life in the universe is we are in a simulated virtual existence and no other life other than Earth life is in the simulation but then outside this VR existence we would know there would be other life.

Some believe the absence of evidence of alien civilisations is strong evidence that we are in a virtual existence.
