Personal List of Topics?

Ask a Question

I know there was a sort of wish list on here awhile back, posted by Tom Kelsey Deepak.

However, I cannot find it so it brings me on to a new topic to ask if the following would ever be possible when you guys have the time, which is probably never!

I wanted to update a topic I posted recently but could not for the life of me remember what I had titled it. It took forever to find as chat moves on so quickly and I suspect many folk do not go back further than the first page when commenting, thereby missing a lot of topics they may be interested in or posted by someone they have lots of friendly interaction with. I also want to sometimes go back to someone else's topic to update.

Would it ever be possible to have a list (by title and date) of topics we have started? Just as we have a list of notifications and points awarded?

We can click on any members icon at the moment and see how many deals etc they have posted so it would just be another with a list of topics they started. Also if the amount of comments were also shown it would give an idea of what topics are popular.

It could make life easier when using chat. Am I talking a load of nonsense or is it worth a thought?

I notice someone recently changed a lot of titles so that makes it even harder to search so another reason why it would help when searching your own topics.

I think that would be a good idea Lynibis. I have often wanted to go back to chat topics I've posted to update them and like you can't remember what I've called it, so I think a list of the topics we have posted in chat would be a good idea, if it was possible.

Yes! There have been many topics you've started that would've been worthy of a return, some weeks later. I've searched for a few of yours but just can't get the wording correct to re-locate them. 😆 A great idea.

Aw thanks angemski I had you in mind when I wrote that, along with others I won't mention as it may embarrass them. There are so many topics members have written, that I can't find with normal search, I would like to return to when I think of something to add. I think that is why there are so many repeats as people can't find originals or can't remember if it was ever a topic.

Perhaps they could be added to the section where you find all the comps, deals, freebies & vouchers you have posted?

Or maybe these could all be separated into different individual sections

currently you find them under - saved posts: shared (they are all there listed in date/time order)

they could be altered to five different sections

saved posts: shared: comps

saved posts: shared: deals

saved posts: shared: vouchers

saved posts: shared: freebies

saved posts: shared: chats

I hope that made sense?🐞

I like this idea - It would definitely make life easier for the poster but I don't think I've shared five chat topics. (I'm more interested in re-visiting a thread that someone else has generated) Edit - I've just seen the 'saved post' part of your suggestion. 👍

When you click on someone's avatar to see something about them , perhaps when they joined (if you haven't seen the name before) the page also you get shows you what they have posted so perhaps you can see someone else's chats in that area, if they are willing to set it up like that? 🐞

Am going to comment here sorry Lynibis as closed my chat

tom evening hope all well i enjoy this section and don’t use it just for points. Maybe members could share more then a few words to creat a topic more then 15 as what it is now I believe. I have come to enjoy reading few members topics and comment along the conversation but these are getting lost but the topics created. i would like the follow member to be a possibility or to save a chat like you can with the deals.

Hi Ann, I expect it is just a slip up as you have tagged me ok, but Tom's name has not highlighted in your comment so he won't know he has been tagged. You could edit if you want to draw his attention to it.

Just a suggestion which might solve this problem: If directly after the topic title an unobtrusive word or even just a short sequence of letters were added (each poster, wishing to use, using their own). Then if a poster of a topic wished to find one of their own topics (or even if someone wanted to see all the topics posted by a specific member) then a simple search in "search chat" should reveal them all.

Lynibis You could see if this works by perhaps editing in (after your topic title leaving a few spaces full stops actually ). Perhaps LNBS. And if it does add it to any future topics you post, or any you come across that you might wish to find again in the future.

ADDED BY EDIT: I have just tried out the above myself and it works (I thought it might) a few things; to separate your "tag" from the topic title use full stops (spaces won't work) I Went back to TWO topics I posted about a year ago using the tag ddst... search ddst (in "search chat")and you can see how those topics show up. Anyone using this should ensure they choose a tag that isn't likely to be used in a topic title, Lynibis (so you can see addition)
