Is Your Pet a Social Media Star?
Ask a Question
So the likes of Boo and Grumpy Cat (RIP to both) have a mass following, and the trend of showing off your pets seems to be growing
Have your pets got their own social media accounts? if not, would you consider it?
It's a good question. I think Grumpy cat was sedated in a lot of her public appearances. I've had cats all my life and know how cats behave and also what a cat who is under the influence of sedatives looks like; myself and others online thought that poor cat was doped up to sit still and pose for selfies with people. I love Miss Tizzy and whilst I think she is beautiful and would make an excellent model for cat brands, I wouldn't want to be pimping her to the point that she is the money maker. She's a cat, not a meal ticket and Grumpy cat's owners pimped that cat! They became multi millionaires, but did Grumpy have a good quality of life? I think the answer is balance if you are going to do it. Make sure the cat does get to live as a cat, not spending all its time posing for photos. Some cats hate having their photo taken too.
It's a bit odd IMO. I know someone who has an account for her cat and regularly posts updates and tags him. But it's lighthearted and doesn't offend anyone so i guess a little bit of fun on facebook isn't a bad thing.
I do like looking at posts about pets and animals, so I guess there’s always a market for it
