Why Was My Post Put in Moderation for Being a Duplicate 16 Days Later?

Other

So I have just received a notification that Admin has removed one of my posts from 16 days ago as apparently it's duplicate .

Apart from the fact that it's different to the other item posted, Admin clearly hasn't bothered to look at it properly how petty is it of admin to be removing posts after such a long period, Surely there should be a time constraint on such things.

This is not about points as I post more than three deals per day so wouldn't have lost out there it's more about the pettiness of the whole situation, absolutely no need of it.

Mango4 I can see that the post was duplicated.

It often takes a while for someone to notice the duplicity and report the post, which can be done in up to 30 days.

Duplicate deals (first come, first served)

It wouldn’t be a very helpful place if the whole site was flooded with the same deal. Because of that we’ve agreed that duplicate deals are dealt with on a first-come-first-served basis. If you’re quick off the mark and spot the bargain first then you get to keep the points.

If you still have any questions, please use the Contact Form, and one of the administrators will respond directly to you via email.

Thank you!

kikogpe But it wasn't a duplicated you are wrong please look again (similar but not the same) and to take 16 days to realize is a bit extreme and as I said very petty. There should be a time limit on it , what do you suppose you achieved by removing the post so longer after, few people would have seen it anyway, and the offer ends in a couple of days anyway. And now you've looked gone back and found one 21 days ago and removed it are claiming it's duplicate ( again you incorrect) real childish behavior .

Mango4 The posts are reported by other users. My job is to check if it is correct or not. We receive more than a hundred reports every day.

Unfortunately this site is kidnapped by few older members and worse thing is admins take side with older members.

Your post may have been reported by another member for being a duplicate. If it was a mistake then you could use the contact form to query it. I had a post removed before and lost points because it was reported for something but it was wrong. I used the contact form and included links of both posts and explained how it wasnt incorrect and the post was put back up and my points were returned. The admin are not robots and sometimes mistakes happen, they do have a number of posts to go through each day. I think its petty you’ve made this thread to name call admin and gain 20 points.

Even when asked what post all you answered was Tesco Finest Cakes - give more information on why its not a duplicate. Not everyone is a Tesco Cake Expert 🙈

You are entitled to your view just as I am, but this happens all to often and the contact form takes forever to get a response although I have submitted the report. I have not as you called it named called anyone and have stated facts . 16 days to remove a post is simply too long and just because I pointed it out they went back and removed another post from 21 days ago . Regards of what I was asked and replied may mean nothing to you but would have been understood by the Admin team as they have different information to you.

Again, a post can be reported within 30 days. I can say that your post was not reported by one of the LD mentors or administrators. Just as you also use the report tool, so do other users, I can't see any reason for accusations because you had two posts removed for duplicity.

I think calling admin petty and saying they cant be bothered to look (which im assumjng means lazy) is name calling 🤷🏽‍♀️ Considering deals are valid and cannot be reposted for 30 days then 16 or 21 days isn’t too long for them to be removed. There are deals up on the site from 2 years ago, if their not removed when expired or duplicated no matter the time then this site is going to be full of invalid stuff. If you feel that 16/21 days is too long ago for then to be removed then maybe its too long ago for people to be interested in them so why are you so bothered about them being removed 🙈 You are the only one being petty now 🤣

Morning Mango4 🙂

As others have pointed out we try and automatically detect duplicates but sometimes the system doesn't pick them up. In those cases we rely on reports from members to let us know. People may stumble across an older post at any time e.g. someone might search for a toaster and see that the same deal was shared twice and so report the duplicate. It could be that this isn't picked up until quite a bit after a post was shared.

We try and process any reports as they come in and, if it relates to posts within the last 30 days, we try and consistently apply the same rules.

I can totally understand how this might be frustrating. We're constantly making efforts to improve the duplicate detection when you originally share a deal to try and reduce this frustration as well as improving search on the site so people can more easily check themselves.

If there's any doubt about a moderation decision please do use the contact form. As others have said - we do make mistakes! It's our policy to respond to any query regarding a moderation decision and, whilst we cannot do this immediately, we'll always try and get back to you as soon as possible 👍
