My Phone Keyboard is Playing Funny - Any Help?
Ask a Question
My phone keyboard is playing funny spell check, auto check are not working I tried everything but nothing working so far.
Turn the phone off and then back on after a few minutes. Usually helps when I have a problem.
Lynibis' advice is a good one. Another tip would be to remove the battery and then put it back in again. That is of course if you're not using an iPhone.
Both the previous suggestions are good - it can help if when you've removed the battery you also press a few keys, before putting the battery back in. It discharges any residual power - it's perhaps not essential but with many electronic things does no harm when "rebooting".
If by any chance your phone has been subjected to any moisture try warming it, perhaps with a hairdryer, I know that last year when my laptop keyboard was "playing up" after some liquid (not a lot) had been spilled on it - warming the keyboard saved me buying a new one.
AmazingPerson There are two before mine (Lynibis and RegularComper90) - it is possible you have them blocked perhaps accidentally - if you view while not logged in you should be able to see their suggestions. they suggested you switch phone off for a short time - the other suggested you remove the battery for a short time. I would have made the same suggestions but just added my suggestion to theirs.
AmazingPerson If you had muted them then they wouldn't have been able to see your post and comment. (granted there was probably a lot of muting going on recently ) It's probably your phone at the moment. Or would they davidstockport ?
angemski Good logic - I obviously wasn't thinking straight had just woke up
It does seem strange that only comments from certain posters can be seen, as you say might be her phone.
I suppose it's worth asking AmazingPerson if she can see postings elsewhere from Lynibis or RegularComper90
This is a topic Lyn was posting on about one hour ago:https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/wish-someone-move-next-door
davidstockport Guess what? I didn't get your tag again - very odd! I came back to the thread because I saw the number of comments had changed and wondered if you'd answered without tagging.
angemski I think the gremlins are hard at work on Latest Deals today - I have referred Tom to this thread, it might help them sort things out.
If you see this angemski - you can see you were tagged TWICE on this comment (and also previously).
If you don't see it . . . I'm quite used to talking to myself, so don't worry about it
davidstockport I got this tag. I even took a screenshot of my notifications which are all on.
angemski Perhaps tonight we'll sleep well and tomorrow wake up and all will be right (it might not even be raining), and then we'll wonder if it was just a dream or if Kelsey has killed the bloody gremlins.
angemski We actually don't know if we're unable to see some poster's comments, if it hadn't been for me mentioning that the previous two suggestions were good ones AmazingPerson wouldn't know they had replied.
As said; sleep well all may be fine with the coming morn.
(Judging by the lack of reaction from some tagged on this topic - I have very strong suspicions that you and AmazingPerson aren't the only ones experiencing problems).
RegularComper90 I'm getting very confused (and when I get confused so does everyone around me) It isn't that you can see AmazingPerson's comment that's really the issue it is that AmazingPerson couldn't see your comment or Lyn's.
Thanks for confirming that you can see AmazingPerson's comments though, I will sleep better (eventually) knowing that some things are working OK.
You may notice that since AmazingPerson's (AP)response to me saying AP couldn't see the first two comments that there has been no further response from AP on this Topic, perhaps AP can't see mine either, that could disturb my sleep - I worry too much
davidstockport You can sleep more peacefully now. And it most certainly can get very confusing all of this.
Sanitation1234 Don't worry about it - you are quite free to read and reply to any reply or comment that are posted by anyone, in fact it's reassuring to find someone is reading mine.
To explain: Just because someone is tagged like this Sanitation1234 (or at the start) Does NOT mean only that person can read or reply. Tagging is often just a way of drawing the attention of the person tagged to the comment or reply being made. They'll be notified of the tagging.
If ever you need to tag a person you just need to put an @ directly in front of their name (no space) it will get highlighted and lose the @ when posted. Some suggestions might be made when you're typing it (in a blue pop up box), if you click on a suggested name the highlighting and loss of the @ will take place before posting.
Sanitation1234 LOL I had to read that twice . . . at first I thought you were thanking me for picking up your little son at school.
I'm still recovering from an acute state of confusion.
angemski My minds unscrambling from yesterday and I realised that when I first said it could be caused by perhaps accidentally blocking/muting - I had it the right way round, if you block a person they can see your posting and comment. It's the person who's done the blocking who can't see any responses from those they've blocked.
It's always caused confusion and I wouldn't consider use the muting feature again, and wish I'd never used it in the past, I too wrongly thought it stopped the blocked person seeing your own contributions.
davidstockport I didn't get this tag either. Thanks for the clarification. Personally, I wouldn't care if the muted person could see my contributions. It is enough that I don't have to see theirs. I wrongly thought that the team kept a watchful eye on chat without being tagged so many of us sat it out with all the insults and baiting coming thick and fast. Push the button - job done.
mine done this on my old phone it turned out to be the "bottom screen"
so you have you front screen (touch) and the led screen underneath
mine was the led screen
