On a Plane, Do You Prefer the Window Seats or the Aisle Seats?

I used to always want a window seat so I can watch the plane take off & land, as well as watch the world from above, but these days, just for ease of access, I tend to go for the aisle seats - preferably close to the loos, so I don’t have to wait too long for access on long haul flights in particular
I also don’t mind the back of the plane for the same reason, although it’s annoying to be the last out when disembarking
Where do you prefer to sit on a plane?
Not been away recently but when I did, as I travel solo I tend to request the aisle so if the other people fall asleep I’m not trapped if I do ever need the toilet.
If in the aisle I’d prefer to be away from those people queuing for toilets it is annoying as they always seem to rest themselves on the top of your seat.
Gromit22 yes, I don’t want to get trapped either, as I don’t want to be waking up strangers, which happens on long haul flights. I have to admit I’ve been lucky not to get people hanging round me when I’m on the aisle seats also, but my partner tends to get people just banging past - definitely not an enjoyable experience
To be honest I don’t like any of them. My husband enjoys the window seat so very rare I get to sit there. If it’s three of us I tend to go on the aisle seat but that annoys me with people walking past, banging into you and holding the top of the seat as they make their way past. You would think they were climbing a mountain the way they grab the top of the seat and pull on it. I don’t mind the middle if it’s my family either side. I tend not to use the toilet on short haul flights. Best flight was to Lanzarote a couple of years ago. Hardly anyone on it so had a row to myself and nobody in front or behind. I have added some pictures of how the Sultan of Oman used to travel. Definitely for me.

eyeballkerry wow that is a plane I’d like to be on! Unfortunately I don’t know any sultans, let alone anyone who owns their own plane lol. Ah yes, the aisle seats also have their irritations, but thankfully I try to sit at the back when I’m on the aisle, so I have less issues (often hoping it’ll be emptier too, as a lot of spare seats are often in the back)
hspexy I tend to choose the seats on the back row as then I have no one behind me kicking my seat. But the issue is you are generally near the toilets which means people again hold onto the top of the seat while waiting to use the toilet. No seat is perfect unless you’re the pilot.
lilyflower Wow, that’s amazing. Do you know what plane it was? I took pictures inside but forgot to take pictures outside. I do know he donated the plane to Brooklands and got an upgrade. I think I would fly better if I could sleep in a proper bed. My husband tends to have the window seat and then I lean on him for a sleep, not always the most comfortable but I prefer to be asleep than awake on a plane. If I get the gangway seat I am always being woken up by people knocking my seat. I would love the experience of first class.

Friend was based in Oman for 20+ years, only came home 3 times year. He kept his 'gift' a left hand drive merc in the garage which I had permission to drive if his parents needed to go anywhere urgently - they never did.
I like being tucked in a corner and looking out the window however its problematic on a long haul flight cos I need to pee a lot and have long legs which need stretching.
I never get the window seat as my partner likes to sit there but that's fine as he's not flown as much as me. I also keep my fingers crossed that the aisle seat stays empty as I can dump all my bits on there.
I’ve always asked fo an aisle seat but I would prefer to turn left and travel like my nephew. Also lounge access and massage 
I would have said the window seat until that incident in july when that man nearly got sucked out of the window on a Ryanair flight
I went off seat windows when flying to Germany once looking out on landing the engine looked to fall off. Panic stations, for me, it was supposed to happen was just the engine casing. Tlying back on take off, when you're supposed to have the seat upright discovered mine was broken and I ended up looking up at the stewards sat behind me. Talk about put you off flying.
Window as I like to keep my eye on the wings and engine if possible to make sure nothing is on fire! And to see if any planes are too close or birds flying near by. I'm a bit paranoid. 
I don't mind where I sit, I've flown a lot, and I've never got used to taking off and landing, I absolutely hate it lol
I like to be in the window row and not in the middle row when in a bigger plane. I don't mind where I sit though but I used to enjoy being right next to the window.
My partner has the window seat & I have the one nearest the isle with our daughter in the middle or our daughter has the window seat with her Da has the middle..
Fri 21st August as we were on the Ryanair flight from Belfast International Airport at 5pm the middle aged male cabin crew member asked how old our daughter was because she was sat in the emergency exit isle & you have to be 16+ to sit there...Our daughter turns 28 next month we informed the cabin crew member!!
The window seat is nice and works be my preference, but honestly whatever is cheapest.
I haven't been on a plane or abroad for years but I'd have to say as I'm now getting older I think I'd prefer the aisle seat, that little bit more room and easier access to get out if you need toilet or anything instead of having to brush past people to get there
I would always love a window seat, watching taking off, seeing all the lights at night coming into land and trying to guess the roads on the way back into Gatwick...l never used the toilets on board as would never trouble the other two travellers.. l would prefer a aisle seat nowadays as l don't like being blocked in (so to speak).
I take long-haul flights often so always ask for an aisle seat; I get up, stretch and move around a lot. Suffered with airsickness a few times so feeling trapped by the window wouldn't be ideal if that happened again.
I go in the middle. The kids always want the window seat and my oh wants the aisle so I get saddled with middle seat.
