The twitter link goes to this article: https://boingboing.net/2017/06/04/theresa-may-king-canute.html which has been doing the rounds on the internet today.

It would be nice if policitians had a firmer grasp (or at least consulted with people that do) on some of the realities/technical consequences of what they're proposing.

Here's hoping it's all scaremongering and not something anyone will seriously persue!

With ISPs already blocking websites they consider "offensive" and that the user shouldn't access, it looks like they're pushing full throttle with it now.

I'm even thinking about buying a VPN service 'cause while Hoxx VPN as a free method is great, it has its limits (1.5GB per day).

George Orwell knew it. Straight out of his novel and plastered firmly on every wall. I have to ask what price are people willing to put on their freedom? In light of the London Bridge/Borough Market atrocity I can appreciate things are going to be tightened up. It makes things more uncomfortable for those just trying to do their day job...

May is using the tragedy to push internet further. It just doesn't work.

There's also the deep web, password-protected websites and VPN services they can't block people from using the web as if we're animals.

Will eventually have to fully pay for a VPN service cause of how things are. :-/

Her whole strategy failed to work in the last year...this is not the way to track criminals. I do not see any police in our area anymore...so who will see the criminals? If we report them the police will do nothing. Most of these guys have been reported and no action was taken against them. These criminals can be tracked with community! But there is no investment there, just cuts!

I would be interested if she will take Trump's phone away, when he will visit UK???

AgnesFaludi It's been reported that a large portion of British police do not even have a gun or a weapon so they are unable to stop a criminal.

Rockman Does not make any difference...because they also need to learn to use it.

AgnesFaludi It would make a difference as they would be able to protect. Learning to use it isn't hard.

Will she take Trump's mobile phone away when he will enter to the UK? Or he is not anyone?
