Wow I never knew teabags contained plastic. I drink coffee but my OH drinks tea will have to look into plastic free
I did mention it in a previous chat post about white tea as clipper doesn't use plastic
But its a disgrace that it is allowed to be used at all

Yes it is better to buy teabags that don't contain it but not everyone can afford to buy those brands that are plastic free.
I know you might have a favourite brand that contains plastic but i would put my health before anything else and try one that is plastic free

TerenceMealing I don't have a favourite brand, I just meant that someone might only be able to afford the ones from Lidl based on budget.
According to the article, they weren't sure if Tesco own brand didn't contain plastic. They might be cheap compared to the brands but could still be too expensive for some people.
MrsCraig I understand what you are saying M, but there is no need for plastic to be present in any manufacturers brands, if some can produce them plastic free, the government should be lobbied to get it removed from all teabags
I cannot believe it is any more expensive to produce them plastic free , in fact it should be cheaper
If you are ingesting plastic then this could cause cancer , and it could not only kill you but put an enormous strain on the already stretched NHS having to treat more patients with related illnesses
TerenceMealing I agree that it should not be present in teabags and needs to be removed. The problem is that the plastic free ones are generally more expensive. If they made the plastic free ones cheaper then it would encourage more people to buy them.
If consumers demand it then eventually the producers will come up with the goods. Its slowly happening. The govt of course could help things along by giving all manufacturers a deadline to get rid of the plastic in teabags.
Most we have have been replaced by small paper bags. Seems illogical how environment supporters are against plastic, but not paper. lmao
