Plastic Straws
In the News
According to the Strawless Ocean in the US, plastic straws are too lightweight for recycling sorters and drop through sorting screens and end up in landfills. ... In fact, it's likely that every straw you've ever used in your life still exists in the environment somewhere.
Unfortunately people are still not aware of this and assume straws are ok to be recycled and still buy and use them.
Aren't they being banned though, if not already? At least the single use ones. Doesn't undo the damage done, but will prevent more.
Thought plastic were getting banned cant stand paper straws I'd rather have the metal ones they are reusable too
Be realistic in here the straws are just a tiny part of the rubbish cause issues in the Ocean....it is single use plastic what is really damaging......and cut off fish nets, because animals get stuck in them
Completely agree! Don’t see the point in banning something so small when there are companies who get through 1000 times as much plastic in an hour than the whole country would in plastic straws
Most plastic straws are single use though. Think of all the fast food restaurants and then kids parties - that's a lot. Of course there are still other big problems but this is one of them.
MeestairChrees not all ends up in the sea.... I agree they could be washed and re used... Someone could built something amazing out of them.
