There is no way of knowing how these organisations will use your details or how much they will collect but I think it is worrying. Like Jinxyjink I have been comping for many years and recognise many of them but anyone can get caught.

Putting up a prize should not be the criteria. They sell details for hundreds of thousands and give away a camera or something. Lots of scams still involve something of value but it is bait.

Same goes for freebies. Companies promise to send out in 1-2 weeks and you never receive it, but they get to keep your data and then sell or use it. But then, a few do send out the goods so yeah, they aren't all the same.

I used to be a regular user of sites such as OfferX, MyOffers and many others, when I was young and stupid that is. But overtime, needless to say I ended up getting bombarded with nothing but spam emails, phone calls and post without ever actually winning a prize. The vast majority (if not all) of blocked numbers on my phone are a result of entering comps on those said sites.

However, sometimes I did enjoy winding up telemarketers before blocking the numbers.
