I love using and sharing on this page. It’s been a godsend this Christmas, especially over Black Friday.

I would love if we could earn points for our more popular shares that maybe hit 50 or 100 likes/hearts. Anyone agree?

I agree that it is a good idea as we all hope that whatever we share is liked by others. 🐞

I was thinking this would be a good idea too even if it meant you got less points for posting deals.

Sorry I don’t agree. Our aim is to post deals and get rewarded.

I am afraid I don't agree either Pjran. We already get points for 3 likes on comments we make but I particularly find it hard to find good deals and will not post a KitKat reduced from 50p to 48p! I wouldn't want points reduced for the hard work it takes finding my 3 a day. I also do not post Amazon or supermarket deals as I feel anyone can look them up themselves. The ideal for me is to find deals others may not find or know about.

Lynibis my thinking is that hopefully it would encourage people to take the time to share really good deals like you do, rather than 100points for the 2p saving posts you mentioned above.

aliciajbarnes I was thinking this too about encouraging people to only post good deals rather than any slight reduction.

I really don't want to lose points posting deals Claire if you don't mind, maybe you can if you are that keen 🤣 I spend a great deal of time searching for things to post here, I certainly wouldn't want less points for doing that!! x

aliciajbarnes It wouldn't make any difference - the trashy deals always get more likes than deals that although genuine are only of interest to perhaps a few people. It is obvious to anyone even having a cursory glance that the actual deals are not checked before the likes are given. I personally take little notice of the number of likes, they're too obviously given by people just wanting to squeeze out every point and have little bearing on the deals they relate to.

JoTarpley it's not so much that I want to lose points, it's that I think it would be better to get more points for better deals and that could be based on getting a certain number of likes. I'm not sure if it could be open to bias though.

hmmm dont agree if it means getting less for posting etc I wouldnt be as involved. I spend a good hour sometimes two looking for what i hope will be helpful to others as honestly LD has saved christmas for me this year. Maybe would be nice if you got an extra bonus- like the popular comments thumbs up, say for getting over 50 likes or something, Or perhaps a deal finder of the month bonus as a thank you?

OneeyedRaven I agree, I think it should be additional, not in place of sharing. I do feel like it would encourage more people to be like you and take the time to find and share quality deals. It’s sometimes pretty obvious when people have posted any old thing just to build points.

aliciajbarnes agree its so frustrating I see groups of people who literally recycle the same deals every month and the suspicious amazon tat with RRP of a billion bucks but yours today for just 48p plus £20 pp 🤣

OneeyedRaven agree with this recycling of deal posts every month. Clearly it's just the standard price if it stays the same for months on end.

It's not just deals that are recycled though, I think when someone takes a great deal of time finding 'something', then often takes time adapting this 'something' to post on LDs then 'Original Poster' ought to be permanently along side this 'something' so that when people take your work as there own and re-post it then they don't get all the credit, that is sooo annoying!! Also, you would see how many of the same things are regularly posted over and over again by the same people like under Vegan/Vegetarian last time I looked! There's also all these downloads that are supposedly not allowed, I'm having to put FREE BY POST nowadays on the ones I post just to make things obvious, what do others think?

I don't agree I do post deals and yeah a good few have had over 100 likes but I wouldn't expect more points what is given now is a good amount of points for anyone I only started in June and am 4000 away from my 50 voucher whice in far didn't take long

Sounds like a great idea, it makes it more appealing when people are actually liking what you found and makes it worthwhile.

It's a good idea, but don't give a comment a like just to get some points.

Rockman definitely. You can see the comments that are repeated for likes. This would motivate me more to find and share great deals

Likewise, it would be good if points were given when competitions reach a certain number of entries. There are competitions that get well over a thousand entries.

How about the idea of getting bonus points if your deal is featured on LD's emails/Facebook or Telegram/Whatsapp messages...

Definately agree on this. Will help the site too as people are more likely to post great deals rather than any they can find (cough cough free fabric swatches anyone) just to get their points for sharing deals etc

What’s wrong with free fabric swatches lol? They are still a freebie and I certainly enjoy receiving them in the post, and often share them for others to enjoy for arts and crafts usage, not just to get points. I guess you could say that about any post really.

AliceBell64468 theres just absolutely loads of them on the freebie section, and ive seen people comment that they post stuff like that just for the points and theres only so many free fabric swatches someone needs, im sure they are useful to some people, not sure the companies kffering them realise most people ordering them have no i tention of buying their curtains lol. I had a follow up phone call from a fake grass sample i ordered that i only wanted for my daughters dolls house garden, i did feel a bit guilty and couldnt bring myself to tekk the very enthusiastic salesman on the phone that i have no intention if buying 🙊

Why should any person take the "LIKES" on deals seriously when those giving the likes are rewarded for doing so? It's too obvious to those who look beyond the numbers that far too many just "LIKE" to get a few points. So many I have checked out, that have numerous likes, are little short of rip offs.

Perhaps it might be an idea if likes could only be given by people who have actually purchased (and are satisfied) or actually received genuine freebies. Then the "likes" would be worth a little bit more than the screen space they take up.

This is a good point. I can never quite work out why some things make it up to the top of the popular page. I've shared what I've thought were really great deals before and they've got no likes then other ones that I've shared but thought were fairly boring low value items have had 50+ likes.
